I am a qualified Secondary Science teacher with over a decade of classroom experience, working with students from Year 7 to Year 13. As Head of Physics for 10 years, I was deeply involved in developing schemes of work, designing effective revision strategies, and creating high-quality resources to support learning. Additionally, my experience as a board examiner has given me valuable insight into common exam pitfalls and what mark schemes are really looking for; knowledge that I use to help my students maximise their marks.
After tutoring alongside my teaching role for several years, I launched Huntingdon Science Tutoring in 2024 to provide expert Science tuition to students locally, across the UK, and worldwide. My tuition service is designed to be personalised, engaging, and confidence-boosting, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.
I take great pride and enjoyment in creating high-quality, tailored resources that address each student’s specific needs, whether that’s stretching high achievers aiming for top grades or supporting students with EBSA who require a more nurturing approach. My lessons are structured, interactive, and carefully designed to bridge knowledge gaps and build confidence.
In addition to 1:1 tuition, I also offer small-group sessions, both online and in-person, as a more affordable option. These sessions provide the benefits of peer collaboration, shared problem-solving, and interactive discussions, while still ensuring that every student receives expert guidance and targeted support from me. Small-group tuition helps build confidence, improves communication skills, and allows students to learn from each other’s questions and perspectives. I am a Bioanalytical Scientist with a Bachelor's degree in Human and Medical science and therefore have a very good understanding of Biology and Chemistry. Furthermore I have 6 months experience as a substitute teacher and a year's experience as a TEFL teacher. I have always enjoyed Sciences, English and Urdu language and feel they have always been my greatest academic skills. Due to my passion for the subjects and great understanding, I have been able to make them simpler and easier to understand for all my fellow peers ans siblings in the past. I hope to bring these skills and passion in use with my students as well. I am happy to help children of all levels from KS1 to A-levels who are struggling or need extra motivation. I am happy to modify the class as per student needs. Depending on student specification and weak topics I can plan lessons to suit individual style of learning by either providing extra supprt and material or by going over the topic again to make it simpler and easier to understand. Through my experience in labs I will use real life examples and videos, wherever possible to help my students with their curriculum. I am an experienced, qualified teacher and tutor of 20+ years. I am educated to master's level and have expereince teaching and tutoring primary and preparatory school pupils (ages 6 - 13). I can provide home learning support in all primary subjects as well as specialist English tuition. I have had success preparing pupils for SATs and entrance examinations for independent schools, particularly in Cambridge, (United Kingdom), though I am also familiar with Cheltenham schools. I tailor sessions to the individual child's interests and needs, and work with pupils and parents to meet their desired goals, whether these be to build confidence, to develop creativty or to begin entrance exam preparation in earnest. I usually set a short piece of homework at the end of each session and review this with the pupil in the following session.
I am currently working only online via Skype and Zoom to deliver lessons but will also consider other mutually agreeable, secure platforms.
My basic rate is £30 per hour but this may be adjusted up to £35 or down to £25 depending upon the age and number of students, the work involved and any fees charged to me to facilitate tutoring.
Return to School or Transition Support - I can provide educational support for children returning to school in September after a significant time out of a formal educational environment. I can also support those children making important transitions between key stages or who are adjusting to the pace of work in a new school.
