Hi. My name is Gemma. I am a science and maths tutor, specialising in biology and applied mathematics. I teach with a strong focus on exam skill and application of knowledge, using a mixture of theory, practice questions and exam questions. I encourage a positive attitude to the subject and aim to create a love for learning, as well as good grades. Questions are always welcomed throughout my lessons. I have 3 years experience as an online private tutor in both UK and international exam boards, at all ability levels, including teaching students who have English as a second language. I have a first class degree in Microbiology and a masters in Global Health, with distinction. Both my degree and masters included strong mathematical and statistical components. I also have A levels in biology, chemistry, physics and maths. A typical lesson with me would include a starter question, to either establish baseline knowledge, or revise a previous topic. Followed by a mixture of theory with practice questions to consolidate and challenge your knowledge. For exam level students, I would then finish with exam questions. However, I am also aware every student is different and learns differently, so my lesson plans and teaching style are highly adaptable to suit the needs of my students. I look forward to hearing from you and helping push your, or your child’s, grades up to where you aspire to be.

I’m a passionate and experienced science and Maths teacher with over 15 years of teaching Maths and Science at KS3 and Science GCSE. I’ve worked as a Head of Science and currently lead as a practitioner and examiner, which gives me a detailed understanding of how to unlock student success across different exam boards. I care deeply about helping young people achieve their goals—whether that’s gaining confidence in class, securing a pass, or reaching for a top grade. My mission is simple: to make science enjoyable, accessible, and something every student can feel proud of mastering.
Whether you're aiming for a grade 9 or working hard to secure that all-important pass, my tutoring is tailored to meet you where you are and help you move forward. I’ve supported students from all backgrounds—many from grammar schools with high aspirations, and just as many who have struggled with motivation or confidence. I bring empathy, patience, and energy to every session. My experience in mainstream schools means I understand the unique needs of neurodivergent learners, and I create a safe, supportive space where everyone can thrive. I believe in every student’s potential, and nothing motivates me more than seeing learners grow, overcome challenges, and succeed.
My sessions are dynamic, engaging, and designed to make learning stick. Rooted in evidence-based strategies, I use tools like retrieval practice, live modelling, word etymology, and vocabulary breakdowns to build understanding in a memorable and meaningful way. Science is a subject full of wonder, and I aim to bring that to life—whether through real-world connections, interactive techniques, or simply helping students see complex ideas in a new, clearer light. My approach is personalised, flexible, and always focused on helping you feel confident, capable, and ready to succeed in your exams—and beyond.

During my current course I have led teaching groups of young children in regards to maintaining good oral health care alongside volunteering as a reading assistant during my Secondary school days. I myself have benefited from tutoring during GCSE's and A-levels and believe I understand what techniques help on exam day. My method entails working through real exam questions with my students until they are confident and are no longer afraid to tackle the most testing questions. At this point I go onto challenge my students with questions that may present as curve balls to boost their confidence and intrigue them to approach challenges positively. I would be looking to tutor in Chemistry and Biology at GCSE and below as my previous and current degree are based around the two core subjects.
I charge competitive prices and I understand what is required for a student to be succesful and show growth versus one that is stagnating and is becoming frustrated with not seeing results. www.*** first lessons are on me, just so that the chemistry (pun intended) between my teaching methods and the students requirements are met perfectly.
Unfortunately, I am not doing home visits as I want to social distance and protect prospective students, however I am doing zoom classes which will hopefully move to visits in September
Message for any further questions.
Best wishes

Hey there, my name is Graeme F. I’m a friendly and committed tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students succeed. I achieved an A in A-level Geography, and Bs in both Biology and Religious Studies, as well as grade 9s in GCSE Geography and Biology. These results reflect not only my understanding of the subjects but also the effort and strategies I used to achieve top marks—skills I now enjoy sharing with others.
Whether you need support with exam preparation, understanding complex topics, or improving your confidence in a subject, I’m here to help. I tailor my approach to suit each student’s learning style, breaking down content in a clear and accessible way. I believe learning should be engaging and supportive, and I aim to create a comfortable space where students feel confident asking questions and making progress.
I’m particularly experienced in helping with essay structure, revision techniques, and understanding mark schemes. I’m also happy to help students develop better study habits and time management skills that can benefit them across all subjects.
If you’re looking for a tutor who’s approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping you do your best, I’d love to work with you.

My name is Leya B. and I'm currently a 3rd year dental student. I am willing to teach Biology and Chemistry as they are subjects that I have excelled at ( grade 9 in GCSE and A in A Levels).
I believe that understanding how a student learns best is crucial for their academic success. I focus on figuring out how each student learns best, so they can understand things easily. By tailoring my teaching methods to suit their individual preferences, I empower students to discover their own pathways to studying. Moreover, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, recognizing the common confusion students face in approaching various types of exam questions. By guiding students through diverse question formats and teaching them effective strategies,. Many students feel confused about how to study, so by working closely with each student, we explore different study methods and find what works best for them. This way, they can feel more confident and prepared for their studies. My goal is to make learning feel easy and enjoyable for every student.

I am a Science teacher based in Liverpool and have been teaching for 3 years. I teach GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and have experience with both AQA Trilogy and Synergy specifications. I offer tutoring for GCSE Science and AS/A-Level Biology via online sessions. Sessions are tailored to the individual student's needs to meet their goals and build confidence in tackling the content.
Sessions are taught via Skype/Google Meet using a shared screen Powerpoint which is also provided to students at the end of each session. The focus of each session is knowledge recap, improving exam technique using a range of exam-style questions as well as addressing concerns about learning time that has been lost during the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring students are prepared once they return to the classroom.
If you are interested please contact me, we would start with a free, introductory meeting with myself, the student and a parent/carer either by video or phone to discuss the sessions and answer any questions.
