EXPERIENCE
A qualified teacher with over 13 years experience. My students have always achieved well & made great progress. I have been a lead practitioner for science, a head of science and a deputy headteacher - you will receive a professional service at all times.
EXAMINER
I have worked as an examiner for Pearson and AQA at GCSE and A level. I have marked GCSE Biology and Chemistry papers for AQA for the last 7 years, and can support you with knowing how best to tackle exam questions, and which key words are really important in your answers.
EXCELLENCE
As a teacher and a tutor, I have been able to help students to achieve grade 7-9s and have also taught at A level, with my students achieving As and being accepted into medical school, Cambridge and the Russell Group universities. I am able to teach to the top, and from being an examiner, I know how to support my students in achieving top marks in exam questions.
SEND
Students enjoy my lessons & get satisfaction from making progress & understanding difficult content. I trained as a SENDCo back in 2016, so I am aware of additional needs that children may have and the challenges this can present in their learning. I can confidently differentiate and adapt my teaching to support the individual needs of my students.
MEMBERSHIPS
I am a member of the Chartered College of Teaching, the Royal Society of Biology and an Associate of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
SUPPORT
I am able to find different ways of explaining key concepts and I am patient and understanding if it takes a little time to grasp something. I also use lots of ways to help you to remember content.
BESPOKE
I ensure tuition is bespoke to my student’s individual areas of strength, gaps and misconceptions. I use past paper exam questions throughout tuition sessions to assess, model exam technique and help my students grow in confidence.

Lesson will consist of prepared notes which will be discussed during the tutoring sessions. There will be supported by use of worksheets and then exam style questions. Each lesson will be based on specific areas of the syllabus that is intended to support the work that is being undertaken in the classroom. This will follow the part of the syllabus being taught in the classroom, to support and re-inforce student learning.
I use videos to support learning and these will be showed used a laptop. I will use a projector (if it is possible). If the student wishes to only look at specific areas if the syllabus, then I will undertake to produce material to support this request.
I gained membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry and have undertaken volunteer work for them. I also volunteer in the Science Museum in South Kensington for the last 8 years.
University of Cambridge for the Cambridge Festival of Ideas and the University of Cambridge for the Cambridge Science Festival.

I have been teaching GCSE Science for 22 years, Biology up to A level for 22 years, and Physics A level for 12 years. I can also help with BTEC Science coursework and exams. I have been working for a major exam board for 12 years. I believe in building good relationships being one of the most important things in teaching. When we can communicate effectively we can learn and teach effectively. Most of my teaching has been in central London so I have lots of experience dealing with challenging behaviour and facing the challenge of students who at first don't want to learn. I have had several positions of responsibility including KS3 coordinator, deputy Head of Science, Head of Science, and recently Head of post 16 Sciences and head of BTEC Science. My work with exam boards means I know how to get students to pass exams. I have taken on students currently on a U, and they have ended up getting an A, purely being taught how to answer exam questions. I have a current DBS certificate and recently completed Designated Safeguarding Lead training as well as level 2 courses in Counselling Children and Adolescents, and Forensic Psychology.

I hold an Honours degree in Chemical and Processing Engineering, which has provided me with a strong foundation in the field of science and mathematics. Additionally, I possess a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with a specialization in Mathematics and Science. This combination of academic qualifications equips me with a solid understanding of the subjects I intend to teach.
With over five years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of instructing students at various educational levels. My expertise lies in teaching Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Science to students in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. During my teaching career, I have developed a passion for fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking and encourages students to explore the world of science and mathematics.
My teaching philosophy centres around creating a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel motivated to excel and ask questions. I am dedicated to helping students not only understand complex concepts but also develop a genuine interest in the subjects I teach
