Having studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University alongside coaching the university football team I chose to go into teaching as I enjoyed combining my science knowledge with my ability to explain methods to young people. Seeing young people improve was extremely rewarding and I wanted to put this in an educational setting. I have been a Head of Year and am now Head of a large Science Department. This allows me to keep in touch with new teaching methods and discuss with colleagues ways to help pupils improve especially with essay writing in Biology and data analysis.
