Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. We were luck to have had colleagues we share the same vision with join us. Now we can teach all subjects from Primary through to GCSE, College /A-levels and Science & Maths at University level. All our teachers / tutors are graduates and qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) who understand the National Curriculum. Some of them are examiners at GCSE and A-level, which means they know the exam techniques students need to answer the exam questions properly and get better grades. Within the team, we have professionals with very high qualifications ie Masters Degrees (MSc / MA) and PhDs in various subjects. We can, therefore, be confident to say we are professionals who are dedicated to what we do with proven records in the UK’s most entrance and national exams. We are a tutoring organisation that is defined by its professionalism. Our aim is to provide a personal service. This makes us very different from most tutoring companies that just offer a platform for tutors and students to meet. We speak to clients so that we can match them with the most appropriate tutor for their needs. When this happens, the results can be remarkable & confidence grows. We personally know all our tutors and all have had DBS checks and their qualifications checked before we take them on. We are also a member of The Tutors’ Association (TTA) which was formed in 2013 to provide standards to the tutoring industry.

I am an enthusiastic, patient tutor that will work with you to find your strengths and weaknesses in your learning methods, in order to find a route to success. I am very familiar with the GCSE Combined science, Triple science and GCSE Geography course content. I also know what is needed to excel in the current GCSE science and humanities exams having done them myself not so long ago. This includes exam techniques I have learnt along the way from my recent GCSE and Alevel experience.
I understand that some students are not as enthusiastic about these subjects as myself. I find that helping students with the problem solving techniques I used throughout my exams to makes the subject easier to understand.

My grades support my knowledge with receiving all 9s in the GCSE Triple Science course and GCSE Geography. I also have alevels in Biology Geography and chemistry (AAB) and am now studying Biomedical sciences at university.
I offer tutoring sessions online via Skype with an exam-based tutoring approach, which includes working through past-paper questions and sharing tried-and-tested advice on exam preparation as well as evidence-based studying techniques. I achieved A* grades for all of my three A level subjects (Biology, Psychology and Religious Studies), an A for AS level History, as well as 9/A* grades for all of my nine GCSEs/IGCSEs (including English Language and literature, and Maths). Oliver has a passionate and highly engaging approach to tutoring. He has been teaching for 29 years and has worked in a range of educational establishments including an independent school, comprehensive schools, a selective grammar school, a middle school (Y5 to Y8) and one of the largest sixth form colleges in the country. He has also been an assistant examiner for both the Edexcel and OCR exam boards, marking hundreds of A level Biology papers in each of the years he has undertaken this additional role whilst teaching. His vast teaching and marking experience have given him the opportunity to prepare a large number of learners for their G. C. S. E Science and A level Biology examinations and he has consistently guided the vast majority of them to be extremely successful. With respect to his academic background, he attained A levels in Biology and Chemistry and AS levels in Maths and English Literature then studied ‘Applied Animal Biology’ at the University College of North Wales in Bangor and was awarded a BSc honours degree in 1993. The following year, he gained a P. G. C. E. in ‘Secondary science’ from the University of Newcastle. In many of the schools he has worked in, he has not only taught extensively but has also taken on management roles in order to have an even greater influence on learners’ success. These roles have included ‘Head of Biology’ in a comprehensive school and a grammar school, ‘Head of Science’ in a grammar school and a middle School, ‘Head of Y5’ and ‘Head of Y8’ in a middle school and ‘Programme area manager for Life Sciences’ in a sixth form college. These positions have allowed him to strongly influence the delivery of the curricula within each of the schools and the college he has worked in and to develop very strong working relationships with both learners and their parents. His interests include amateur dramatics, running and badminton.
