Hello there!

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with 6 years experience working with children aged 0-12. I am fully qualified in teaching all subjects within the Scottish and English Primary School Curriculums and work with children of any age between 0 and 12.

I achieved a grade A in my HNC in Early Education and Childcare and graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a 1st Class Honors in BA (Hons) Primary Education. I am bilingual and fluent in both English and Modern Greek. I am happy to provide my PVG and GTCS registration upon request. I am available to tutor within a specific area/subject or as a general tutor/support across many different areas.

Working with children is my passion. I truly love what I do and have worked very hard to develop my skill set and ability within the teaching profession over the past 6 years. I firmly believe that the foundation of success within the classroom and within teaching are strong relationships. Children will not thrive and learn unless they are in an environment in which they feel cared for and comfortable. Children in my classroom know they are valued and cared for as individuals which allows them to thrive academically. I enable children to build their confidence and support them in developing a sense of self-belief and independence. The job of a teacher is not to teach a child the correct answer but rather to teach a child to think. My aim is to support children in developing their problem-solving skills, creative thinking and understanding of why rather than simply teaching formulas.

When working with your child, I will spend time truly getting to know them as people, who they are, their likes/dislikes etc. I will see them as an individual and find creative ways to engage them based on their specific interests and the ways of learning which suit them. I will provide a personalised experience for each child and I guarantee results both academically but also in confidence and self-belief. I am enthusiastic, passionate and have access to a huge variety of resources which I will use and share in my lessons with your children. I am also able to provide specific mindfulness based lessons and teaching. I have been studying mindfulness-based practice with children for 2 years now and through professional enquiry have been able to demonstrate children’s heightened self-awareness, wellbeing and ability to self-regulate through the teaching of mindfulness theory and practice within the classroom. Whilst this is more difficult to offer virtually, there are many areas which we can explore and follow-up activities that I can provide and suggest for children and families to engage with.

As a working primary school teacher and due to Covid-19, I previously spent the last 3 months of the past school year teaching a class of 23 through a computer by means of email and video through Microsoft Teams. I also have a wealth of experience in one-to-one tutoring online. Therefore, should you wish to book online lessons, please be assured that I can confidently provide a worthwhile learning experience for your children online just as I can in person. I am more than willing to provide a meeting with parents/carers online free of charge before proceeding with any tutoring as I fully understand the necessity for parents/carers to feel comfortable with who their children will come into contact with. Please do not hesitate to contact me to arrange this. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Many thanks,

Lydia

08.08.20 - Could not have asked for a better tutor. Very very lucky to have been connected with her! Could not be more pleased. I'd like to recommend more enthusiastically but I'm afraid that would mean she'd be less available for time with us! (5/5 Stars) - Elizabeth D

09.08.20 - My son loved his lesson with Lydia. (5/5 Stars) - Lousie M

18.09.20 - Lydia is a fantastic teacher, she has brought both our boys (age 6 & 11) reading and writing on so much in such a short period of time. The kids look forward to Lydia’s lesson every week and despite our 6 year old being very shy she has managed to have him laughing and chatting away and even singing the alphabet. We are so happy with Lydia and would recommend her to anyone looking to get there children extra help with learning. (5/5 Stars) - Dan D
