So what are the benefits of learning JavaScript?

Coding is possibly the most valuable skill to have in today’s job market, but with so many programming languages out there it can be hard to decide where to start your study. Unsurprisingly, JavaScript appears to be top of the list.

Learning JavaScriptSo what are the benefits of learning JavaScript?

Well, it's a universal front-end platform that's fast and responsive, and it's a relatively easy language with extended functionality to web pages. Javascript is everywhere. It’s used in a vast range of applications and has been around for a long time. It’s more than likely that, if you work with code, you'll use JavaScript at some point.

Part of the reason so many people use JavaScript is because it’s one of the most natural languages to learn. Many games were created using JavaScript and, since it's such a popular language, companies pay people to look for bugs in their code. This pays well. Even though JavaScript is super easy to learn, programming it is also a hugely in-demand skill. That means people want to pay you a lot of money if you know it.

Then there's the fact that it powers all browsers. Pretty much every browser is based on JavaScript, meaning that if you want to work with web apps, you have to know JavaScript.

85.3% of developers rely on JavaScript so everyone likes to use it. It’s easy to build a website by using a pre-formed template and paying for hosting. With JavaScript, however, you can design everything to your unique specifications, so that your website stands out from all the others. You can even make that site really stand out with some cool animations, since JavaScript allows you to do so “in-browser”.

The whole point of becoming a front-end web developer is to influence and shape user interactions, and there’s no better way to do that than with JavaScript. If you love watching users interact with sites and apps, JavaScript will allow you to shape the way they think.
