I am a qualified Y1 Class teacher at Gladstone Park Primary School with a demonstrated history of working within a KS1, KS2 and SEN setting. Promoter of inclusion within education having a 2:1 BA honours in Education and Special Educational Needs. Charity advocate of worldwide education for all through volunteering as an English teacher in Sri Lanka (August 2018/2019). Highly skilled in coaching, organisation and teamwork. Overall, my experiences have invoked an enthusiastic love of learning and dedication to this profession. I look forward to the challenges that teaching encompasses and I am determined to invoke this same love of learning within pupils. Carville Primary School: October 2019 – March 2020 Nursery (Age 4-5) / Year 1( ( Age 5-6) / Year 4 (Age 8-9) o Key knowledge in early maths and reading. o Engaging with the children to create positive relationships and establish high expectations. o Planning and implementing stimulating cross curricular lessons to challenge all abilities. o Differentiation through developing a bank of strategies to support all learning including EAL & SEN/D. o Instant feedback/marking and addressing misconceptions through subject specific language whilst ensuring children are aware of their next steps. o Delivered extra-curricular activities – gymnastics, choir and art. o Continuous record collection of pupil attainment and progress. o Fulfilled wider responsibilities – establishing effective professional relationships/ Deploying support staff/ daily engagement with parents on pupil wellbeing/ Staff meetings.
Benton Dene Special School: February 2020 – March 2020 Year 2 (6-7) o Creating a multi-sensory environment can stimulate the children's senses whilst having a calming effect. This can help them focus, concentrate and encourage the development of sensory processing skills. o Implementing a holistic approach in creating a caring environment for children to feel safe. o I gained confidence in being able to deal with challenging circumstances that may arise in a classroom.
Millstead Special Needs School: October 2018 – January 2019 Classes based upon ability - PMLD( Profound and multiple learning difficulties) o Many children found processing information through auditory means difficult. Visual strategies such as drawing and using interactive elements with iPads encouraged substantive progress. o I discovered new innovative methods of communication through pictures and technology that helped progress children's communication. The Picture Exchange Communication System was used effectively to convey their thoughts and needs through pictures.
Other Experience:
SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka – Volunteer English Teacher July 2017 – September 2017 / July 2018 – September 2018 o Volunteered in children’s orphanages teaching children English for two months during summer break. o Gained skills in resilience by adapting lessons to support disadvantaged children and their learning needs. o Creating interactive and engaging stimuli using limited resources.
Sika Gymnastics – Volunteer Qualified Coach September 2012 – September 2016 o Gained skills in leadership in assisting and planning sessions for children in stretching/beams and floor practice. o Consistently applying new ways of learning with. o 1:1 support with a SEN group practicing consideration, patience and empathy in all interactions.
