I am a Creative Vocal/Violist working as a performer and Music Teacher in South London. I have over 10 years experience as a violist and vocalist and completed part of my education at the BRIT School for performing arts where i studied for 2 years. I give lessons online and in person. I have played professionally in an Orchestra and a quartet with both classical and modern music and love to perform vocally with my band. I have taught both in the classroom and private lessons to younger and older students and i'm now looking to continue passing on my knowledge to anyone who is willing to learn!
My lessons would include both the technical and theoretical side of playing strings, both classical and modern. I would bring fun and passion to an instrument generally overlooked and encourage the love for a beautiful art form. I would teach with warm ups first, then move to pieces trailered for each students individual goal whilst incorporating knowledge gained from my experience in the field. I teach beginner to intermediate and offer rockschool & ABRSM exams training.

I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also teach conducting, violin, viola, and chamber music at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians in Essex. With over nine years of tutoring experience, I also offer private tuition in violin, viola, orchestral conducting, music, music theory, philosophy, history, essay and dissertation skills, english literature, classical civilisation and violin performance.
From the age of 17, I have taught violin and viola to a variety of students, ranging from children and adults beginning their studies, to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
Alongside my MPhil studies at Cambridge, in which I specialised in the cultural history and musical aesthetics of Germany and France in the Long Nineteenth Century, I began working as a freelance academic tutor, and taught Music, History, Philosophy, English Literature, Dissertation Skills, and Classics to A-Level Students. I have since developed two years’ experience, in which I have taught over 900+ hours of educational content with a diversity of tutoring organisations and online education platforms. I also have experience teaching in a classroom setting. I worked as an Assistant Music Teacher at a Sixth Form College, which involved teaching Music A-Level students. I have also worked with academic summer schools in Oxford to prepare Oxbridge hopefuls for their entrance examinations.
My academic expertise is strongest in the fields of the history of philosophy, the philosophy of music, and nineteenth-century music history. I am comfortable teaching both Violin and Viola, as well as Music, History, Philosophy and Writing Skills to final-year undergraduates. I also teach Classics and English Literature to a first-year undergraduate level, and I have intermediate reading skills in French.

Approach to Teaching
– I favour a structured approach to teaching. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.
– I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing short points of rest or temporary closure, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
Musical Performance
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.
Lesson Structure
– Academic lessons tend to be 45–60 minutes in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed.
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

Hi My name Is Tayo and I` have been playing violin since the age of 4 years old. During his time, I have performed in Orchestras and concerts while progressing through the grades, after which completing an ABRSM musical performance diploma when I was 17. After school, i studied a degree in History but it didnt take me long to return to music, where from being classically trained, I embraced a number of different genres both playing the violin and producing music. I have graduated in Violin at the Conservatorio di Musica " www.*** da Palestrina" of Cagliari-Italy and in Viola at the Conservatorio di Musica "G. Verdi" of Milan-Italy. My professional activity led me to work in several orchestras as performer, and in institutions as upper- string and chamber music teacher. I lived and worked in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and since 2012 I made London my home, where I developed further teaching experience within the British system. I have also founded "The Geminiani Project" ( www.*** ) of which I am the director and the leader of the Camerata Geminiani, ensemble that has been invited to perform in England, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden.
At the same time I have established my ensemble, I have also launched the Geminiani Youth Orchestra (formed by young musicians aged 6 to 17 years old) as I believe in the importance of giving an opportunity to young players to perform together, and the amateur ensemble Hampton Chamber Orchestra; we performed with both orchestras at various venues in London.
Regarding my teaching technique, I believe that each student is different and unique, so the first thing I try to do is to establish a connection, then I try to understand the major skills and major difficulties of the student in order to develop a personalised system; I pay much importance also to the emotional aspect the student is dealing with in order to build passion and love for music. I strongly believe that, once achieved a technical skill, the student must have the chance to play with the teacher and experiment the excitement of making music together.
I have experience in preparing students for auditions, competitions, or ABRSM/Trinity exams with excellent results; I love what I do and I love to see my pupils achieving high level results. Some of my students have been awarded at international competitions, some other former students are covering leading roles in international orchestras or in chamber ensembles.
Elizabeth studied at the Guildhall School of Music and was awarded the AGSM and Salzmann Scholarship.
She has worked with many professional orchestras, including the Philharmonia, Scottish Opera and BBC Concert Orchestra, and she has led the Virtuosi of London and Mornington Sinfonia.

Jolene explains the importance of providing equal access to people of all abilities, “Inclusivity is very important because everyone needs to feel loved and accepted. I will develop low self-esteem which I believe also happens with other children with similar disabilities. Therefore, we need to be accepted by mainstream society, just as how we are and not judged, based on any of the disabilities we have. Musica Nova, the International Academy of Music, is a unique bilingual establishment in the UK that combines the best of British and Russian principles of teaching and offers music lessons and complex Certificate programmes for children (starting as early as 3. 5 years old) and adults (up to advanced professional level).
It has six categories of classes geared to maximise the potential of the student in musical styles and genres as diverse as classics, jazz, pop, dance, and drama. It was founded in 2001 and is based in the London Borough of Camden, within walking distance of King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station (zone 1). Thanks to the Academy, children, teenagers and adults from all ethnic backgrounds, including the Russian-speaking community in London, are being introduced to a beautiful world of music, enabling them to develop and improve their talent and to embark on professional music activity.
Musica Nova has established partnership links with artistic management agencies, record companies and cultural institutions. Since March 2011 the Musica Nova has held membership of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) one of the major umbrella organisations in the UK joining professional teachers and musicians. In 2012 the Musica Nova took part in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Education held at the Palace of Westminster. Recent documentaries about the Academy have been broadcast by the BBC, major national and international Russian TV channels and the Russian Hour programme on the Digital Sky TV channel.
Teachers
All teachers are highly qualified professional musicians with a Conservatoire education, and with vast teaching experience with legal working status in the UK. All new teachers are carefully assessed and vetted in accordance with DFES regulations and employment legislation and with the Musica Nova’s own quality control procedures.
Lessons and Curriculum
Lessons take place in soundproof studios, equipped with pianos and elegantly designed to bring a sense of intimacy and discipline to the teaching. Both one-to-one and group sessions of up to eight students, are run at the Academy to fit in with students and parent’s busy lifestyles. If requested, lessons can also take place at client’s home (within the London area) and online.
The programmes are specially designed to lead and direct students from very first steps in music to Certificate (Grades 1 – 8) and Degree programmes (Performing and Teaching Diplomas) with participation in concerts, recording projects, performances at the international festivals and competitions. The ‘Music Wonderland’ is an innovative authoring programme offered to younger students. In close collaboration with child psychologists it assists in teaching music to children with dyslexia, speech and concentration problems.
In 2014 the Musica Nova introduced new educational programmes. Free concert events and workshops popularising good quality classical and contemporary music are open for children and adults in the Camden Russian communities in London.
Exams
Every year over 200 students are successfully assessed and receive Diplomas from major national examination boards. Students continue further music education in colleges and conservatoires in the UK (Royal Academy of Music, Royal Music College, Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Cambridge and Oxford Universities) and Russia (State Conservatoire in Saint Petersburg, Gnessin Institution in Moscow).
Performances and Competitions
