I have been teaching for over ten years and tutoring professionally for five years. I exam mark and support NCETM and Maths hub, keeping me up to date with all current curriculum and practice. I tutor Maths from year 3 to adult and 11+ from year 3 to year 6. 11+ is very maths biased, so well worth having a maths specialist. I am well qualified with a 1st class maths degree, a Masters in teaching and further outstanding teacher qualifications and accolades. I mostly tutor by zoom but can use other platforms and occasionally face to face local students. I look forward to Helping you.

I am a full-time educator with over six years of experience. I am an English Literature graduate (BA) of the University of Aberystwyth where I especially enjoyed papers in Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, female empowerment and Viking Sagas. Following on from University I gained my PGCE with the University of Chester via the School Direct programme, beating 200 other applicants for one of the 20 places available. I was exposed to the latest in education theory and pedagogical techniques during the revamp of the National Curriculum. I then completed the prestigious MRes with Swansea University in the highly acclaimed Medieval Literature department.
As Head of History in my role, over the years I have worked relentlessly and have created the perfect programme for scoring top marks in GCSE and A-Level History! My programme taps into neurological stimuli to help revise and apply a practical understanding of content and essay writing. Additionally, I have also put together a revision programme to help ensure revision actually pays off and gets you the highest marks! Suitable for all exam boards and all learning requirements.
Tutoring Experience
I have significant experience with LAC and PLAC children, those with learning difficulties and mental health issues. This has enabled me to tailor teaching and learning to suit the individual and quickly spot the root cause of their issue. I am a member of The Tutoring Association which strives to make tutoring a monitored and professional industry. This means I continually embark on CPD in terms of teaching methodology as well as marking courses with a variety of exam boards and constantly reflect on my own teaching to improve.
Tutoring Approach
Learning should be enjoyable! I strive to make lessons interesting. This means they are automatically beneficial. If a student enjoys lessons, they are more likely to engage fully while also changing their outlook on education as a whole. It is my belief that the most important quality a tutor must possess is an appreciation of the individual requirements, needs and aptitudes of each of their pupils.
I will work closely with you and your child to provide the support that suits them individually.

I am a friendly, approachable wife, mum of two and teacher. I enjoy helping others and seeing their confidence grow which is the reason I chose teaching as a career. I have always been passionate about science and find how the world works to be fascinating. I love finding out about new developments in the area of science and how they can help us in the future, there is so much to learn about this subject as it does not stand still. Family time with my children will often involve a trip to a museum or an experiment at the kitchen table. I am a member of the National Trust and enjoy visiting historical places and spending time outdoors. To relax I enjoy a good read and take part in local park runs.
In each session I model key concepts and provide practice opportunities for students to embed their knowledge and understanding. I use techniques to help memory recall and aid application. I will provide independent learning tasks and feedback to both student and parent.
KS3 Science - engaging and interactive sessions using lots of practical activities to allow students to reach mastery level. Homework help and revision support for assessments.
KS4 Combined Science - engaging and interactive sessions, required practical explanations, homework support and exam preparation following AQA / Edexcel specification.
KS4 Separate Science Biology - engaging and interactive sessions, required practical explanations, homework support and exam preparation following AQA / Edexcel specification.
A Level Biology
I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1997 with a BSc hons (2:1) in Biological Science and then began a career in the pharmaceutical industry where I worked in microbiological laboratories and manufacturing areas for 6 years. This gave me a great experience of how science is applied in the real world and I worked with a variety of people with many skills. The role gave me an understanding of the requirements of having a job and I developed many skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management. I realised from training new starters that I wanted to continue this type of job role more and looked at other career options and decided to train to be a secondary science teacher. I have now been teaching for 17 years and have found it to be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable career. I have had many roles at schools where I have worked including Form Tutor, S. T. E. M co-coordinator, Associate Teacher Mentor, Head of Science and Examiner for Edexcel. I have taken part in many curriculum development courses to enhance my teaching practice and have delivered training to other teachers to develop teaching and learning within schools. I read many research articles and listen to podcasts on new pedagogy which I adapt and use within my own teaching, I recognise that showing students how to learn is just as important as delivering curriculum content. I use retrieval practice in all lessons and interleave topics to aid memory recall. I enjoy being creative and use engaging and varied activities in my lessons for example model making of a specialised cells to illustrate their structure or use of web quests for independent learning. I have organised and led workshops, science clubs and educational trips which I recognise is an important way of enriching a child's experience of the subject. I have experience working in a variety of secondary schools and have a detailed knowledge of the new curriculum, examination preparation, behaviour management, SEN and safeguarding. I am currently still teaching within schools and take pride knowing that I deliver high quality teaching which allows the students I teach to reach their potential and make progress. I am also confident using various platforms to deliver lessons online.

I have over 15 years of tutoring experience. I am qualified and experienced in all aspects of SEND.
My subject is English Language, and I am able to teach pre entry to level 2.
My learning journey began with teaching ESOL and I have a level 3 in this field. I then progressed to do a part time PGCE and during this two year period, I did a placment within an SEND college. Following this, I continued to work in the same college for 7 years, before having children.
I have since worked with various agencies and worked as a freelance tutor. I have worked with a variety of leaners with differing needs. I have delivered sessions to profoundly and multiple disabled learners, learners with ADHD, Autism, SEMH diffculties and dyslexia.
I like to use a Mindfulness approach to learning when needed. This is particularly useful for learners who struggle with anxiety.
This approach is embedded into learning experiences and this helps with setting leaning goals, both short and long term.
This is done in a variety of ways. It may be used sublimely, for eg: relaxing music is used in the background. Or, specific strategies can be introduced to the learner. Mindfulness helps with a whole range of learning difficulties, and with great success.

I am an experienced, fully qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher. I hold the relevant qualifications to be able to deliver specialist dyslexia programmes and to complete full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia. I have taught in mainstream, special school settings and for a local authority SEN service providing assessments and intervention programmes within schools. I hold professional membership of the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and am registered as a tutor and assessor with this organisation.
I care very much about enabling children and young people to reach their full potential despite barriers to learning. Barriers to learning can arise for many different reasons including specific learning difficulties , difficulties with concentration and focus, diagnoses such has ADHD and ASD and emotional and mental health needs such as anxiety. I have experience of how education can sometimes stop working for a child and of the potentially massive impacts of this. My aim is to offer an affordable tutoring service to families who face these challenges. I wish to combine my professional experience and qualifications with my personal insights, in the hope of helping children to overcome hurdles. I have set up this business in memory of my late father from whom I learnt so much about the value of education. As a keen mountaineer he often compared life’s challenges to those of climbing a mountain, and this led me to the name of ‘ Footpaths for Learning. ’ I hope that if you engage with Footpaths for Learning your child or young person will feel helped to find a footpath through any difficulties and to reach the summit of their own personal mountain.
