Does your child struggle with reading? If you are interested in reading help for your early years or primary-age child, especially with phonics, you're in the right place!
Hello, I'm Kara, a passionate qualified teacher, online primary tutor, and phonics and reading expert. I support children with early reading and writing. My mission is to help children learn to read and write with enthusiasm and fun so their confidence and success rocket.
With my proven phonics support, I can help build your child’s confidence and help them learn to read. Why not book a free discovery call with me to find out more?
My teaching style is student-focused and I use an active learning approach. I use my knowledge of how children learn, and my years of experience to help children become confident learners by offering them the quality support they need. I encourage independent learning, and a growth mindset while guiding children on the tools to achieve their reading, writing, and spelling goals. My lessons are one-to-one tutoring or small group tutoring.
Some of the benefits of online tutoring are:
• Learning takes place in the comfort of your own home (no need for travel)
• learning is fun and interactive-both hands-on and digital resources
• Learning is personalised and tailored to your child's individual needs and learning style
• Learning is flexible, (although I plan for every lesson, sometimes the best lessons are in the moment and child-led topics)
Qualifications:
• Phonics and Reading Expert and Official Jigsaw Phonics Tutor, Phonics Expert Training and Certificate
• Literacy Specialist- Dyslexia and reading
• Master of Arts in Early Years Education, University College of London, UK
• Qualified Teacher Status, Primary Education, UK
• Bachelor of Arts in English Education, Kean University, USA
• 12 years of experience as a Primary teacher
• 10 years of experience as a Literacy teacher
• Enhanced DBS-current
• Member of The Tutors' Association since 2021
• 3 years of experience as an Online Primary/Literacy Tutor
Experience:
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 24 years of teaching experience, working with children of various backgrounds, learning differences, and abilities. While working as a KS1 primary teacher, I was inspired to help children develop their reading and writing skills and served as a Literacy leader and specialist. In 2020, I started my online tutoring business, Just 2 Imagine Tutors, to support children's literacy learning and help children learn to read with confidence. With online tutoring, I teach children from across the UK and overseas. I am a phonics and reading expert and an Official Jigsaw Phonics Tutor, having completed exclusive training. I also have experience working with children with Dyslexia and other learning differences.
I tutor online via Zoom. I live in Hampshire England and offer tutoring services to children ages 3-8 throughout the UK and Europe.
My message to students is that learning to read is a journey. I will help you build your confidence with reading and make learning to read fun. Learning to read is an essential skill to learn and I will aim to help you become a confident, fluent lifelong reader.

I have been teaching as a private tutor in the private education sector independently and through agencies across Hampshire for over fifteen years. I tutor full time and this is my business and full time career. Therefore, unlike many teachers who do a few private lessons here and there, I am fully committed and can spend all of my time preparing lessons and focusing on just my private students. I have taught children who are being home schooled, pupils who need some one to one tuition, group tuition, helped to run successful revision courses through an agency and prepared pupils for exams such as Common Entrance, GCSE's and SAT's (all of which I have had successful results with and have kept a record of.)
I have experience of working with several learning difficulties as well as behavioural problems.
I have taught in several schools across Hampshire and other areas of the country.
I am extremely familiar with The National Curriculum, different syllabuses and the variety of examination boards that schools use #/k#and stick to following these.
I have a firm, fun but fair approach to tuition and encourage pupils to work to the best of their ability through praise and reward. I always follow up lessons with advise on what areas need to be improved upon, followed by a positive and encouraging remark about the pupil's work so that confidence is not lost.
I enjoy providing parent's with continual progress reports after each session and offer advise as and when it is needed. I am happy to provide references on request.
I always offer an initial assessment before sessions commence so that I can get a general idea of how I can help the student, and for the student to see whether they like my teaching style. After the assessment, lessons are carefully planned and prepared to meet each individual's needs/requirements. Continual support via e mail is offered (especially for those special cases like exam times, which as we all know can be very stressful for the parent and the student.)

I teach to all ages, up to Grade 8 on the Drums, Grade 4 on the Guitar and on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, but not through the grading system as I only teach basic level sight reading for Piano.
I have taught many students over the years at varying ages and skill levels, and all have come out more passionate and more improved at there instrument.
My students have all mentioned how they find there lessons thoroughly productive and enjoyable, finding themselves increasingly motivated to play after having lessons with me. (see references at the bottom)
In my lessons I will take the students up through the Grades (ONLY for Drums and Guitar), via Rockschool, teaching them everything they need from technique, learning how to sight read, developing improvisation skills, playing in many different genres of music, and how to play by ear. I will also cover how to complement the music you are playing to and how to serve the music. As well as developing musicianship skills and how to have the right attitude in the music business.
- on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, going through everything listed above, as well as scales, arpeggios, inversions, learning classical and contemporary pieces, and basic level sight reading, but NOT grades unfortunately.
I hope to be teaching you soon!
Blessings,
Max

We support people to get involved with activities within the community and within our centre. We are very new and are aim to offer people the service they want and need. We are focused on young people becoming as independent as possible, and our approach is always driven by respect and having the highest expectations of those we provide a service for. We are working on cooking, travel and money skills with people who have asked for this. We also access sports sessions in the community and use community services available to all, such as the local gym. We will soon be offering employability sessions based on the ASDAN training scheme.
We have sing signing sessions which offer people the opportunity to learn Makaton in a really interesting and modern way (all the songs are decided by the group). We also have a contemporary dance session, as well as reminiscence for older people. We welcome new challenges and ideas, and are always keen to hear service users opinions and views.
We are part of Windward Day Services which is based in Netley Marsh, near Totton. We offer holidays to all our service users and have our own Foundation which can help with the cost of these. We have been to Butlins, France, Skiing, on activity holidays and plan to do lots more.
