With over a decade working in education and private tuition, I have extensive experience in preparing students for National exams. Academically, I focus on English Language and Literature, French and Spanish. I also have a wealth of experience in successfully preparing students for the Foundation Tier Maths exam.
At GCSE and IGCSE level I have experience teaching all of the major exam boards including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC, CIE and OCR. There isn't a great deal of variation between the different boards in terms of content as GCSE level is largely standardised. Nevertheless it does help to be familiar with the variation in the emphasis of a particular syllabus and the format of the exam paper.
I hold a BA and MA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford. I found the tutorial experience offered at Oxord University to be a revelatory way of learning and so when beginning my career in education, from an early stage, this became the route I decided to pursue.
In my teaching and tuition career I have work with many of the most reputable tuition agencies in the UK and overseas, specifically the Profs (UK), Modelex (Monaco) and Living Learning English (UK). All three are industry-leading, award-winning agencies with rigorous selection criteria for their academic tutors and the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. In addition to working with these agencies, as an individual tutor I'm a full-member of the National Tutors' Association, the national body upholding standards of professionalism and ethics within the UK Tuition industry.

Whilst in secondary education, I was inspired by a maths teacher who took the time to understand the way my mind worked. He was the Head of Department, and I went to him looking for help. It was my most challenging subject, but he spent time outside of the classroom voluntarily tutoring me. I find it incredibly humbling that he was prepared to do this and that he has no idea of the impact he had on my life. The pass in Maths may have been my lowest grade, but it is the grade I am most proud of. It took effort and grit. It took long evenings after school, trying to understand why decimals even exist. And yet, it provided an essential gateway to so many opportunities. I hope to become that teacher. The teacher who engages students in a subject they might have prior negative feelings towards. The teacher who cares and puts in the extra effort for a student to do their best. My main aim during my teaching journey is to create life- long learners who will flourish in society, due to an innate sense of respect, care, and kindness towards others. My tutoring and teaching has always created an environment which will produce confident young people, who try their utmost in life to achieve and aspire to great things.
I have taught secondary English for over 5 years, with experience in both GCSE and A-Level English. This included 1:1 tuition with students from Year 7 - Year 13. I have experience of A-level coursework moderation, as well as being a coursework mentor for A-Level. I worked mainly with lower ability sets and my aim was always to help them exceed their target grades. This was always achieved through taking time to know the individual needs of every student, what makes them tick and what motivates them. My 1:1 tutoring has always been adapted to the individual and includes short term targets, as well as long term goals. My tutoring includes free extension materials and resources, for the student to complete beyond the session itself.
I have a home classroom set up, so am available to tutor online if more convenient for all. I worked throughout the pandemic, providing excellent live online working experiences. I am more than happy to travel to the student’s home if this is easier. I normally will include a quick ‘getting to know you’ session, where we will plan our expectations and targets. Parents will be able to see this plan also.
I look forward to meeting you.

My name is Alexiane G., a 25 year-old French native speaker and fluent in English. I have an English Language and Culture Degree from the University of Lille. I also have a good level of Spanish.
I am currently working as a Language Teaching Assistant in a 6th Form College in West Yorkshire. I am teaching different classes, from conversation classes to prepare the oral exam for the A-level, to cultural classes for non-French speakers. In this role, I have been doing a lot of administration job as well as the teaching side, and managing the team of teaching assistants.
I have been tutoring English and French for a number of years now. I usually work with children from the age of 5 to the age of 18, as well as working with adults who would be interested in learning or improving a language.

Having worked within Additional Educational Needs at Alderwasley (with A level Politics and GCSE History and Citizenship students); City and Guilds English and Maths at both Red Tape and Sheaf Training; AQA English Language at the SUFC Academy (ah, the enemy!); an EFL tutor at Birkdale; an Edexcel GCSE History examiner and privately in the subject areas of History, Politics, Drama and English Literature, and a spell at both Low Edges and Atwood Primary with many a colourful unicorn, I feel my abilities have been sufficiently honed to provide an insightful, compassionate and dedicated individual, who, not only loves his disciplines and the thrill of communicating, but does so with a sense of humour that only years of being a SWFC fan and Labour voter can bring. Moreover, my experience of performing has equipped me with the talent to convey information with erudition and intelligence. Incidentally, some of my plays have been produced in Sheffield, Leeds and London with the good folk of Leeds having had the equal good fortune of witnessing me grapple with musical theatre.

My name is Courtney K., I’m currently studying for a Bsc in Psychology which I hope to use to become a Psychology teacher in the years to come. I have successfully completed a level 3 qualification in Supporting teaching and learning, which gave me the foundations of safeguarding children and gave me a better understanding of my role within a school. To further my knowledge of safeguarding within schools I have completed a safeguarding certificate which expanded on the foundations I gained from my level 3 course. I am currently studying for my Level 4 HLTA qualification which will allow me to take on a higher level of responsibility and build on my current teaching abilities. In addition to my Level 4, I am also enrolled into an Understanding Autism course which will give me a deeper understanding of people with Autism and will allow me to use this understanding in my work.
I have worked in a number of schools across Doncaster, typically working in 1:1 SEN support roles. This has enabled me to develop my teaching skill set and has allowed me to adapt my skills to a wide range of pupil needs. My responsibilities included liaising with class teachers to adapt lesson plans for children with additional needs, this has enabled me to develop my lesson planning abilities on a 1:1 basis. I have experience with a number of different additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and challenging behaviour.
I have experience with online tutoring, I currently tutor three children on a weekly basis to help them build their skills and to catch up with their peers. Having experience with private tutoring has given me the opportunity to develop lesson plans and also develop a system of assessment to gauge where my tutees are and to keep track of the progress that they make. I follow the national curriculum during my tutoring sessions so that my lessons sync with what my tutees are learning at school.
During my own schooling as a young teenager I homeschooled; this enabled me to build a strong ability to plan lessons and gather resources as I had to teach myself the course content for both my GCSE's and A-levels. Homeschooling allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the education system and I feel I have a unique outlook and teaching style because of this experience. Homeschooling also gave me a unique perspective of how it feels to be a child in mainstream education who needed extra provisions in order to flourish. I want to help provide the kind of support that I needed during my own schooling to other children in Doncaster, to help them find enjoyment from education.

I am a French and English tutor based in the UK offering language and literature tutorials for learners of all levels.*
Since studying French with English Literature at The University of Surrey, I have been helping my students learn both French and English via Zoom. I am proud to say that they have been scoring highly in both written and oral tests.
After working for language schools in Rennes such as Institut-Mondia-Langues and Les Petits Bilingues, I have begun teaching group classes of both primary and secondary-aged students in addition to one-to-one tutorials. Please note that the maximum number of students per class is 8 only, ensuring that the children benefit from teacher-student interactions.
Throughout the pandemic, I have helped my students to grow in confidence as their levels of French and English improve, engaging with both languages and developing comprehensive written and communication skills.
What I offer:
• First class free of charge to discuss students' learning needs
• Group classes (up to 8 people) and one-to-one sessions
• French and/or English language lessons for primary and secondary school students
• Reading confidence workshops for students in need of additional support
• Spelling, phonics & grammar tutorials
• Confidence-boosting speaking sessions to encourage students to enjoy language learning
• Help with any French/English school homework that is proving indecipherable
• Literature tutorials for students studying British, American and/or French literature
• I also provide proofreading and translating services (French-English)
My tutorials are well prepared, structured, and adapted to your child/ren’s learning style/s. The first Zoom call is an opportunity to discuss their learning objectives; these might be goals such as developing their spoken language skills in French/English, or something more specific such as providing additional support for students with dyslexia.
Whatever your child’s learning needs may be, they will be given a structured learning plan targeting the aspects that they would like to work on (speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar etc).
In my classes, students benefit from language acquisition as well as learning, which is essentially the process of identifying sounds > associating those sounds with meaning > imitating the sounds to convey meaning.
This process takes practice, so I focus on overcoming obstacles that might inhibit fluency in speech or coherency in writing. For example, many of my students struggle with spoken expression at first due to a lack of confidence. To help with this, I create an interactive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, empowering them to make progress.
Homework and in-class activities are used to target the areas where your child/ren may face difficulties, which we then work through together in class.

I would love to help younger people with homework, classwork or general queries / struggles they're facing in school. I'm experienced with dealing with people of younger ages and with various disabilities. I specifically have a passion for music and for helping others to love and understand music. As a young person myself, I understand how to appeal, encourage and communicate with younger people. I am flexible with hours, and can work around your schedule. I enjoy helping people to achieve what they're capable of.

We offer a free assessment. An assessment in English and maths takes around one and a half hours to complete. At the end of that time we’ll be in a position to tell you where your son’s / daughter’s strengths and weaknesses lie.
If you decide to enrol, we tutor in 80 minute blocks, during that time students will complete about 6 – 8 activities, some on the computer and some using the written curriculum resources we have.
We design an individual program for each of our students and aim it at their level of understanding to improve them as quickly as they can manage.
We tutor in small groups with a maximum of five in a group. However, we don’t teach them as a group, as each child has different needs and will be at a different stage, so they are all taught one to one and the tutor gives individual support and feedback on their work throughout the session. This promotes independent learning and gives the children time to think through what they are currently working on.
All our sessions are delivered in our dedicated centre, which provides a safe environment without the distractions that can be a drawback to delivering tuition at home.
Because we are Ofsted registered we can accept childcare vouchers, or Working Tax Credits can be used against the fees.
We run sessions on Monday to Thursday at 4:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:00pm and on Saturdays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12 noon.
We would be very pleased to hear from you should you wish to book a free assessment.
