Hi! I'm Katie, I'm 25 and I live in Lancashire, UK. I run my own science tutoring business, biologybykatie. I have always had a passion for education and loved my whole time through school, sixth form and university. I have a particular love for Science hence why I chose to complete my undergraduate degree in Biology. I am friendly, approachable and keen to help young people with their understanding of GCSE subjects. If I can play a part in a student's journey to success, it will be a great achievement for me. I am friendly, patient, understanding and therefore feel I will find some success in online tutoring. Please feel free to contact me with any queries - I am not limited to my subject preferences and would be open to tutoring other subjects. After all, tutoring helps keep my brain active and learning too!!

I have excelled in my GCSE'S with grade 9's and passed all my subjects. Having studied for the past 6 years towards achieving an Islamic Theology degree, I have grasped the Arabic and Urdu Language. I am an excellent GCSE tutor; evident through the feedback given by my 25 GCSE students. I have previously mentored a year 11 student towards achieving high grades in maths. Chosen as an English Ambassador for A-level students has excelled my experience in teaching. I have completed a teaching enhancement wherein I acquired the teaching standards and efficient methods of teaching. Furthermore, I have completed several teaching courses under Open University. I would say I have relevant experience and knowledge to tutor.

I am a graduate from the University of Salford, achieving a 1st in my degree in Human Biology and Infectious Disease. Achieving the highest mark within my university. I was responsible for a programme known as GEMMS which is for supporting students in their medicine/dentistry applications, assisting them in interview technique and for the entrance exams.
I have mentored and tutored a lot during my A-levels and at high school, helping students to achieve grade 9 in maths. I currently tutor Mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry for A-levels and below.
I am a fun person who particular loves his sports. Seeing the improvement and progress a child can make in a short amount of time is always the best feeling and I strive to help you achieve your goals and beyond. Sometimes having that 1 to 1 session can make all the difference in clearing up any worries about a topic.
I begin my classes by asking the student what they want to learn or discuss during the session. If they have a doubt in a concept, I will ask them to explain the same concept to me in their own words and correct them wherever necessary. I will provide some good methods to study or approach that topic. I will conclude the lesson by asking them if there is anything they would like to discuss in our next session so that I could prepare some questions in advance. I will also regularly be assessing your improvement through the use of practice papers to get an idea of where the student is at and how they can further improve. I strive to get the best out of my students.

I have experience teaching students ranging from the age of 11 to adults, in establishments that include schools, sixth form colleges and adult education college.
Subjects i have taught or currently teaching include combined Science to GCSE, BTec Science, Biology at A Level, GNVQ and the new Applied Science at GCSE and A Level. My specialism is A level Biology with a strong focus on AQA and Edexcel B specifications for A level.
I believe tuition is important for many students for many reasons, this could be to boost confidence to enable students to answer questions correctly during exams, to help students understand concepts they have not understood during lessons taught and mainly to help students achieve their target grades or above in many cases.

I would like to help the student identify, box and group similar ideas whilst allowing a comprehensive and embedded understanding of the overall picture and how all groups & ideas interact with each other.
We will come to understand both the micro and macro-scales.
Think of it as a large Google Maps with cities and intersecting highways. The student, in their mind, should be able to ‘zoom in and out’ of all topics whilst never forgetting the larger picture.
HOW TO SUCCEED
Identification:
Identify the topics with the biggest weaknesses
Identify the current methodology in which the student applies their knowledge
Identify distractors
Identify goals
Targeting:
Collaboratively create an overview map of transitioning from weakness to goal
Create a more detailed and prescriptive plan for student (including studying habits, scheduling, learning methods).
