Does your child struggle with reading? If you are interested in reading help for your early years or primary-age child, especially with phonics, you're in the right place!
I'm Kara, a passionate qualified teacher, online primary tutor, and phonics and reading expert. I support children with early reading and writing. My mission is to help children learn to read and write with enthusiasm and fun so their confidence and success rocket.
With my proven phonics support, I can help build your child’s confidence and help them learn to read. Why not book a free discovery call with me to find out more?
My teaching style is student-focused and I use an active learning approach. I use my knowledge of how children learn, and my years of experience to help children become confident learners by offering them the quality support they need. I encourage independent learning, and a growth mindset while guiding children on the tools to achieve their reading, writing, and spelling goals. My lessons are one-to-one tutoring or small group tutoring.
Some of the benefits of online tutoring are:
• Learning takes place in the comfort of your own home (no need for travel)
• learning is fun and interactive-both hands-on and digital resources
• Learning is personalised and tailored to your child's individual needs and learning style
• Learning is flexible, (although I plan for every lesson, sometimes the best lessons are in the moment and child-led topics)

• Phonics and Reading Expert and Official Jigsaw Phonics Tutor, Phonics Expert Training and Certificate
• Literacy Specialist- Dyslexia and reading

Experience:
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 24 years of experience working with children of various backgrounds, learning differences, and abilities. While working as a KS1 primary teacher, I was inspired to help children develop their reading and writing skills and served as a Literacy leader and specialist. In 2020, I started my online tutoring business, Just 2 Imagine Tutors, to support children's literacy learning and help children learn to read with confidence. With online tutoring, I teach children from across the UK and overseas. I am a phonics and reading expert and an Official Jigsaw Phonics Tutor, having completed exclusive training. I also have experience working with children with Dyslexia and other learning differences.
I tutor online via Zoom. I live in Hampshire England and offer tutoring services to children ages 3-8 throughout the UK and Europe.
My message to students is that learning to read is a journey. I will help you build your confidence with reading and make learning to read fun. Learning to read is an essential skill, and I will aim to help you become a confident, fluent lifelong reader.

I'm enthusiastic about science and have a specific interest in Astrophysics. I have a PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Southampton.
To fund my PhD, I received a Mayflower scholarship, which required me to teach 25% of my time there. I assisted teaching of several different courses ranging from first to fourth year physics including maths, laboratories, electromagnetism etc.
I also helped to mark problem sheets, exams, course work as well as presentations. Moreover, I was a tutor and had regular tutorials with my tutees. I guided them academically whilst also making sure that they were settling in well into university life.
As part of my teaching experience at university, I have taught students with a range of abilities and from different cultural backgrounds, including non-native speakers.
I am experienced online tutor in Maths and Science. Sessions are held via Zoom and I use a writing tablet to go through ideas, concepts and calculations. I always adapt the content of my sessions to suit the different exam boards and curricula.
One-to-one and group sessions as well as online lessons available.
I understand that each person has a different learning style and I adapt my tutoring sessions to reflect this. I'm friendly and personable and aim to put every student at ease because learning shouldn't be stressful. I'm happy to teach Science and Maths for all age groups ranging from primary school to A-levels or equivalent and Physics up to undergraduate level. I'm also happy to teach German for all age groups as I'm a native speaker.
I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate, volunteer at a local preschool group and have three children of my own.

have been in my present post for seven years. During this time I have gained a wealth of experience across the school. I have been instrumental in developing the school’s sport and physical education over this period. I have created a curriculum which allows pupils to be excited and enriched, this includes a physical education programme, where pupils can be immersed with concepts and the use of modern technology to develop technical skills. They are encouraged to improve skills by fun, allowing them to have a stimulating experience. All lessons during the week are planned with many cross-curricular links across the school.

I moved to the UK from the USA after completing a Masters degree and www.*** in Classical Philology at Harvard University. My first teaching jobs in the UK were at Winchester College and Westminster School, where I taught GCSE and A-level classes in Greek and Latin.
I have published numerous articles and books on Greek literature while working as a lecturer at the University of Bristol (2007-2011) and Corpus Christi College, Oxford (2011-2016). After the birth of my third child, I stopped lecturing and took a job locally as teacher of Greek and Latin at Pilgrims' Prep School in Winchester.
At the University of Bristol, I taught undergraduates and post graduates, many of whom were Adult learners.
The diversity of my work experience has allowed me to teach from many different textbooks for beginners and intermediates and all of the popular text prescriptions for exams.
I also offer support for university applications to UK and USA universities. I give alumni interviews for Harvard applicants in the Winchester area. I am very skilled in online instruction, but I don't have a Facebook page or personal website. For my publications and academic work, I use my birth name (Hitch), many of which can be found on Google or Amazon.
