E
A Costs Lawyer and PGCE Tutor with 20 years experience in all aspects of academia who teaches Law, Politics and English in Cardiff at GCSE, AS AS Undergraduate, Post Graduate level and English ESL to Chinese children online.
After graduating I secured a position with Eversheds for 8 years as a Costs Lawyer and bespoke tutor. The emphasis was on managing a team with responsibility for recovery of costs on behalf of large external clients, predominantly insurers and government departments as well as financial organisations.
From November 2007, I embarked upon my own private practice with a dual purpose of providing legal advice to clients along side structures and bespoke tutoring. This was followed by a decision to work on a consultancy basis, continuing as a costs lawyer focusing on claimant work and concentrating on my tutoring skills, enabling flexibility to work around family commitments.
I currently have a broad range of private professional clients whom I teach face to face and online whilst also maintaining a traditional student base. I specialise in Law, Politics and English and online tuition to Chinese students aged between 4 and 14.
I am married with two boys. I love the outdoors. I was a member of the Welsh Surf Lifesaving Association for over a decade and am a dedicated surfer. Full driving licence. Fluent in Welsh and English. Interested in all aspects of global politics, human rights and the environment.

E
Experienced teacher for A level Chemistry in Cardiff. PhD in Chemistry and previous teacher of a Sixth form college in London. Certificate in teacher training .
I apply varieties of aspects in my lessons to develop learners’ skills based on their ability and progress. My teaching method follow review of previous topic and link with the current topic and often with real life examples. I emphasise on the non-linguistic representations such as graphs, models or images as visualisation helps in long-term memory compared to the text-heavy materials. I encourage the learners to use varieties of resources to seek information beyond the textbook. Moreover, I address the subject specific mathematics and English needs of learners. I conduct regular progress test and often with self assessment to motivate the students for self-actualisation. As a science teacher, I emphasise on the ‘Generating and Testing Hypotheses’. My Learners are often asked to carry out web search and write an essay on contemporary science topics which helps to grow confidence in academic writing for higher education.

I am an experienced and qualified Computer Science teacher with a strong background in the field and a passion for education. With QTS status and currently completing a Master's degree in Computer Forensics, I have experience teaching A Level Computer Science, and proficiency in coding languages such as Python and Visual Basic. To motivate my students I encourage and implement effective assessment procedures and strategies, involve parents, guardians and the students in the assessment process, and practice a variety of Assessment for Learning (AFL) techniques (Online quizzes, flashcards and interactive sites). I have also successfully launched and manage coding clubs and mentorship programs to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills among students. Overall, I think I am well-equipped to make a positive impact on a student’s Computer Science education journey, whether you are young or older young(like me) and enjoy learning, as I am experienced in mentoring trainee teachers to their teaching of Computer Science practices with exciting tried and tested pedagogical and relevant activity resources.

In more recent years I e been working with voice students and those embarking on a professional career as a singer. I like to work with groups as the students learn so much from each other and we can have open discussions about what we need as performers in the music world. Communication is at the heart of my work as it's an essential part of being a performer in any musical style or discipline.
I also help singers prepare for auditions, role preparation for upcoming productions, physical awareness in performance and how to connect the voice and body with the breath.

Learning to play MUSIC not the drums is the most basic cornerstone of any teachers curriculum. All rhythms, grooves and exercises MUST be linked to music to have any value to the student. The different styles of music which we encounter in our musical journey present the same technical/philosophical challenges whether we are paying jazz, rock and afro cuban. What we practice and how we practice are far more important than the length of time spent in practicing. Think “quality not quantity” Remember also that the way in which we practice is the way we will play. Time spent investigating song form and structure will aid the student to “play the right thing at the right time!!!”
The ability to LISTEN is all important. By listening and responding to musical form and the other musicians the student will play as a musician not a drummer. Certainly this is what other musicians look for. Musicality will always win over technique. Strive for tone and touch in your playing. “Just because you can play something doesn’t mean that you should."
The ability to LISTEN when you practice is also vital. If possible record your practice and listen back. This can be very painful initially but is invaluable. Investigate WHAT you are playing and WHY you are plying it not what you think you are playing. The answers to these questions should be that it fits/enhances/is stylistically correct not that it is the latest /lick you have perfected.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THINK MUSIC AND YOU WILL PLAY THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello my name is Andrew and I'm a BA Honors Fine Art student at Cardiff Metropolitain Univeristy studying in my last year for honors degree. I am to progress into MA Fine Art in August and then go and to my PDGE in Secondary Education, carrying on from my previous experience working in education. I'm an rxperienced Educational Support Assistant working with ASN children at Secondary School covering basic level 1&2 for first and second year - ages 11-13 and moving onto National 3-5 and Higher, Advance Higher Level 6 and first two levels of degree or college at Level 7-8. I have checked and all my educational levels match with GCSE and A Levels but my understand it the level number may be different between Scotland and England. I myself have Visual Stress and Dylesxia and have benefited from a lot of free and paid software that I can pass onto other students who suffer from the same, along with my experience in support there are other options to reduce the stress of learning within these challenges.

I am fully versed in online teaching software. I have experience in a range of teaching strategies for Auditory/Visual and Kinaesthetic learners. My students have achieved results in the highest levels of both A Level and IB Diploma. I have prepared candidates for exams in AQA/Edexcel and CIE boards as well as the IBO HL and SL. My GCSE students often do better than the national average. My A Level results range from A to B with one candidate dropping the subject. My IB candidates achieved Level 7 Spanish, Level 6 French and Level 5 in French and Spanish.
As a non-native speaker, I am resourceful at finding ways to help the candidate develop their language learning abilities. I have taken courses in the Summer with the Universidad de Salamanca in DELE instruction and served as an on the spot interpreter at UN meetings in both French and Spanish.

Hi I'm Katie! I have recently finished my Bachelor's Degree of French and English literature at Cardiff University and I'm expected to achieve a First or a high 2:1. I am eager to help those who have missed out on their education during these unprecedented times. Due to the current climate, I will only be able to offer online lessons via Skype, Zoom etc. Hopefully, once these restrictions are eased I will be available for face-to-face tutoring. Last year, I moved abroad by myself to Toulouse and Paris which helped me to gain a great understanding of the French culture and language. I studied at a French university and also worked as a teaching assistant for French teenagers at a secondary school for 6 months. I was also babysitting two French girls aged 9-11 helping them with their English and French homework I've volunteered in a primary school for 3 months which was unfortunately cut short due to the pandemic. So I have plenty of experience working with all sorts of age groups! I am available every day but Saturday, but I can make exceptions if needs be. Please feel free to message me if you have any more questions or would like to book an appointment :)
