A majority of my education was conducted at a musical conservatoire in Warsaw, Poland. During my studies, I won numerous awards, including national competitions (both as a soloist, in ensembles, as well as in orchestras). I later graduated with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, with Grade 7 in Higher Level Music.
Since graduating, I had an opportunity to work as a session musician in prestigious venues including the Concert Studio of Polish Radio, the Slovak Radio Building and the Polish National Opera.
Currently, alongside teaching online via a music education agency, I have just graduated from London College of Music, where I gained experience in improvisation and contemporary music performance. I currenly work as a session musician, recording artist and sound and light engineer.
In my lessons, I love to help students unlock their full potential and help them fall in love with the flute! In my lessons we explore music, both through music theory and through broader contexts, in order to fully understand the instrument and fully appreciate a range of musical pieces. I always make sure to create a good, friendly atmosphere during the lesson because, no matter if it's learning breath control, expanding your technical abilities, or your musical expressivity, you should most importantly have fun and enjoy playing music!

Jolene explains the importance of providing equal access to people of all abilities, “Inclusivity is very important because everyone needs to feel loved and accepted. For example, I am a person in a wheelchair – if I’m treated differently from any other person, definitely, I will feel low about myself. I will develop low self-esteem which I believe also happens with other children with similar disabilities. Therefore, we need to be accepted by mainstream society, just as how we are and not judged, based on any of the disabilities we have. Inclusivity is a priority for BOWC throughout the organisation as they have recently been registered under the ‘Disability Confident Committed’ employer scheme opening up job opportunities for disabled people.
Children who are students at BOWC are inspired to pursue the arts full-time. To fulfil these goals, Jolene aims to have her students sit exams and open an examination centre for those with disabilities or long-term illnesses. Musica Nova, the International Academy of Music, is a unique bilingual establishment in the UK that combines the best of British and Russian principles of teaching and offers music lessons and complex Certificate programmes for children (starting as early as 3. 5 years old) and adults (up to advanced professional level).
It has six categories of classes geared to maximise the potential of the student in musical styles and genres as diverse as classics, jazz, pop, dance, and drama. It was founded in 2001 and is based in the London Borough of Camden, within walking distance of King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station (zone 1). Thanks to the Academy, children, teenagers and adults from all ethnic backgrounds, including the Russian-speaking community in London, are being introduced to a beautiful world of music, enabling them to develop and improve their talent and to embark on professional music activity.
Musica Nova has established partnership links with artistic management agencies, record companies and cultural institutions. Since March 2011 the Musica Nova has held membership of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) one of the major umbrella organisations in the UK joining professional teachers and musicians. In 2012 the Musica Nova took part in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Education held at the Palace of Westminster. Recent documentaries about the Academy have been broadcast by the BBC, major national and international Russian TV channels and the Russian Hour programme on the Digital Sky TV channel.
Teachers
All teachers are highly qualified professional musicians with a Conservatoire education, and with vast teaching experience with legal working status in the UK. All new teachers are carefully assessed and vetted in accordance with DFES regulations and employment legislation and with the Musica Nova’s own quality control procedures.
Lessons and Curriculum
Lessons take place in soundproof studios, equipped with pianos and elegantly designed to bring a sense of intimacy and discipline to the teaching. Both one-to-one and group sessions of up to eight students, are run at the Academy to fit in with students and parent’s busy lifestyles. If requested, lessons can also take place at client’s home (within the London area) and online.
The programmes are specially designed to lead and direct students from very first steps in music to Certificate (Grades 1 – 8) and Degree programmes (Performing and Teaching Diplomas) with participation in concerts, recording projects, performances at the international festivals and competitions. The ‘Music Wonderland’ is an innovative authoring programme offered to younger students. In close collaboration with child psychologists it assists in teaching music to children with dyslexia, speech and concentration problems.
In 2014 the Musica Nova introduced new educational programmes. Free concert events and workshops popularising good quality classical and contemporary music are open for children and adults in the Camden Russian communities in London.
Exams
Every year over 200 students are successfully assessed and receive Diplomas from major national examination boards. Students continue further music education in colleges and conservatoires in the UK (Royal Academy of Music, Royal Music College, Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Cambridge and Oxford Universities) and Russia (State Conservatoire in Saint Petersburg, Gnessin Institution in Moscow).
Performances and Competitions
Students and teachers of the "Musica Nova" Academy have successfully performed in front of the members of the Royal Family, members of Parliament, politicians and celebrities.

After a first class BA in music and a PGCE that specialised in instrumental teaching, I have taught continuously in Devon schools and privately at home for over thirty years.
I offer relaxed lessons to all ages, primary to adult. I believe in an individual approach, following your interests, providing materials to suit, and sharing your love of music. As a performer, I have experience of classical, jazz, folk, pop, soul and rock, and I teach improvisation and ear skills alongside reading. I am fully familiar with the music curriculum and often support it in my lessons. I also offer a full external exam service where appropriate, using the Trinity College syllabus.

In my teaching I aim to adapt to the needs of each pupil. As I get to know them I can find out about their learning style and what motivates them. I can then tailor my teaching and teaching resources accordingly.
I am always encouraging and try and make learning fun with a variety of activities in each lesson. I aim to involve imagination and creativity. This removes the notion of music being correct or incorrect and engages the whole of the pupil in a musical experience.
I regularly play saxophone in a swing band called A Stroke of Genius which raises money for the Stroke Association. I also play flute in a flute quintet and bass guitar in a pop covers band. I love all types of music and love playing with others.

Personal Description: Ciao! My name is Giampaolo. I have recently moved to Edinburgh from Sicily, Italy, where I worked as a music teacher for 13 years. I have been teaching the flute since I was 15 years old, both privately and in primary and secondary schools. My name is Rose E., I have been teaching music for over twenty years and I could teach you the many pleasures and challenges of learning a musical instrument.
It does not matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, or if you are young or not so young, learning an instrument is a wonderful and fulfilling activity.
There is no boring scale-bashing any more for beginners. These days books are exciting and stimulating. Teaching techniques have improved greatly and beginners' books, whether for keyboard or woodwind, just make you want to play.
My pupils are individuals and have many different tastes and likes and dislikes, but the thing they have in common is that they develop a secure technique, coupled with a sound musical knowledge, so that they can enjoy playing without being hampered by technical problems.

Toby L. is a professional Jazz Saxophonist who recently finished his undergraduate degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Most notably, Toby has performed as an independent artist at famous venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Oliver’s Jazz Club, The Barbican Centre, Pizza Express Live, London EFG jazz festival and with ensembles such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Showtime Orchestra, Guildhall Jazz Orchestra and the Guildhall Big Band. Toby has taken his ensemble, Cyclone, across London and the UK hosting multiple jam sessions and events. Bringing Jazz to a younger audience through experimentation and fat backbeats, Toby is helping pave the way for a youth jazz revolution.

Empathy and connections is very it is, to feel that your child is safe and happy with a mentor. This is why I encourge the take-up of a 'free' initial lesson, so that you feel happy any specialist qualifications in working with children and adults with additional needs, I do have lots of experience. I have many wondefullly, within these spectrums, whom have taught me so much. I am more than happy to re-invent the wheel and nurture what is important to each person. My eldest son is a child with autism, and he is an incredibly gifted musicican, who learns by ear and repitition (even though he can read music prefectly well) - as this is how feels his way though it, and this makes his very happy.
