I am Holly, a tutor in Psychology, Neuroscience, statistics and essay writing. My teaching style can vary based on the student but generally a fun, relaxed and proactive approach is what I find works best. I run sessions weekly or biweekly for an hour and am available at any time to answer student’s simpler questions. Depending on the student, there maybe work for the students for so in between sessions. I believe that learning is most nurtured in a honest and judgement free area. Everyone works in different ways and I strive to tailor my teaching to the individual. I used to struggle in my studies, finding myself stuck on how to write academically, concisely and using appropriate structure. I found external help with my studies that gave me invaluable support that I wish to pass on the other students. I have an undergraduate in Psychology and a masters in Neuroscience. I have studied Psychology for six years and chose to specialise in the wonders of Neuroscience! I also specialise in quantitative research methods and statistics. I believe that neuroscience is an amazing subject and hope to continue studies onto a PhD! I have experience sitting exams and essay writing/course work and can help with either. These different assessments styles can be tricky to juggle, but with the right framework it can be done! At A-Level I teach according to the AQA exam board for Psychology and statistics. In further education, I teach Psychology and Neuroscience at the undergraduate level and statistics at a masters level. I don’t have much formal teaching experience but I have taught others for a few years now. I do have experience teaching a few others on academic writing and psychology to aid their assessments. For a specific example, I helped a student in International Relations achieve 90/100 after supporting them with shortfalls in academic writing. I helped the student to re-write and edit their assessments and assessment drafts to be more concise, clear and academic. The student was able to change their current essay and future essays to achieve consistently higher marks. I have also supported student through the trials of statistics, helping them to understand which test to use and when.

Targeted for GCSE French students. My lessons tailor to individual learning needs of my students within the 4 language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Attention will also be given to pronunciation, an aspect that school children need much chance to work on. Objectives are to strengthen their base while filling in gaps in their knowledge. Lessons will be injected with extra material on language knowledge and interest facts on French cultural to liven the study.
I worked in schools for more than 20 years. Apart from being a subject teacher I also run an in-school language centre. Finding out students' ability and catering to their learning needs is my strength. I love to see them overcoming obstacles and excel in their study. It is part of the things that sustains my passion in teaching.

I am passionate about supporting your child to reach their full potential. In collaboration with yourselves and your child, I will construct and adapt my curriculum to best support their individual needs. While I can offer support elsewhere, my best knowledge is with the GCSE and A Level AQA scheme. Skills that I seek fo develop are:
- reading comprehension
- essay writing
- exam technique
- understanding of a text
I also feel that enjoyment of the texts is key to building confidence in the subject, and will provide tailored 1:1 teaching to do so. English literature is a rich and interesting subject that can sometimes feel intimidating to some students, but over the course of tutoring we will remove these barriers and make learning accessible and fun!

I have just come to end of a 5 month long stint in an undergraduate research lab at the University of Sheffield where my work focused on understanding protein structure-function relationships so I have experience applying theoretical biochemical concepts to practical scenarios. I have recently been accepted onto a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Leicester. I am more than happy to discuss my academic background with you if you are interested in pursing Biology at degree level. In Biology and Chemistry A level I acheived two As as well as A* in Biology and A in Chemistry at GCSE so I understand what it takes to excel in the exams for these qualifications. My recent experience studying Biology and Chemistry GCSEs and A levels puts me in an excellent position to help you to understand difficult concepts in these subjects to help you perform at your best in your final exams.

I am a French and English tutor based in the UK offering language and literature tutorials for learners of all levels.*
Since studying French with English Literature at The University of Surrey, I have been helping my students learn both French and English via Zoom. I am proud to say that they have been scoring highly in both written and oral tests.
After working for language schools in Rennes such as Institut-Mondia-Langues and Les Petits Bilingues, I have begun teaching group classes of both primary and secondary-aged students in addition to one-to-one tutorials. Please note that the maximum number of students per class is 8 only, ensuring that the children benefit from teacher-student interactions.
Throughout the pandemic, I have helped my students to grow in confidence as their levels of French and English improve, engaging with both languages and developing comprehensive written and communication skills.
What I offer:
• First class free of charge to discuss students' learning needs
• Group classes (up to 8 people) and one-to-one sessions
• French and/or English language lessons for primary and secondary school students
• Reading confidence workshops for students in need of additional support
• Spelling, phonics & grammar tutorials
• Confidence-boosting speaking sessions to encourage students to enjoy language learning
• Help with any French/English school homework that is proving indecipherable
• Literature tutorials for students studying British, American and/or French literature
• I also provide proofreading and translating services (French-English)
My tutorials are well prepared, structured, and adapted to your child/ren’s learning style/s. The first Zoom call is an opportunity to discuss their learning objectives; these might be goals such as developing their spoken language skills in French/English, or something more specific such as providing additional support for students with dyslexia.
Whatever your child’s learning needs may be, they will be given a structured learning plan targeting the aspects that they would like to work on (speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar etc).
In my classes, students benefit from language acquisition as well as learning, which is essentially the process of identifying sounds > associating those sounds with meaning > imitating the sounds to convey meaning.
This process takes practice, so I focus on overcoming obstacles that might inhibit fluency in speech or coherency in writing. For example, many of my students struggle with spoken expression at first due to a lack of confidence. To help with this, I create an interactive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, empowering them to make progress.
Homework and in-class activities are used to target the areas where your child/ren may face difficulties, which we then work through together in class.
*Si vous êtes débutant/e/s, je peux vous expliquer en français :-)

After teacher training I spent a year on supply working at various schools on short and long term placements in a variety of subjects. During one placement at a pupil referral unit I was offered a full time position and worked here for 1 year with students with behavioural difficulties and special needs. I then moved to Frederick Gough school in scunthorpe again to fill a position as a teacher of ICT I am now in my 9th year of teaching. After 2 years I secured a position as a head of year and have worked with all age groups from 7 to 11 in this time providing pastoral care and coordinating the learning over over 270 students. I Have just completed my NPQSL (National professional qualification for senior leaders) and hope to make the step to assistant head in the very near future. My relationship and rapport with all students is excellent and I am to help them achieve their best, whatever that may be.
