I am an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor, currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Computational Neuroscience, Cognition & AI at the University of Nottingham. My academic journey, anchored by a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate connections between Neuroscience, Cognition, and Artificial Intelligence, shaping the trajectory of my educational pursuits.
Additionally, I have had the privilege of serving as a tutor to numerous students for nearly 6 years, facing the challenges inherent in subjects like GCSE Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Maths, as well as A-Level Chemistry & Biology. My tutoring philosophy is distinguished by a steadfast commitment to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. To this end, I leverage innovative tools, including online whiteboards and past papers, and complement these resources such as detailed step-by-step guides, often resulting in extremely positive outcomes with pupils sitting summer exams, be it A-Levels or GCSEs.
While the pursuit of academic excellence remains a focal point, my overarching goal transcends examinations. I am dedicated to instilling a profound understanding of the subjects, and empowering my students to not only excel in their studies but also apply their knowledge in a range of facets of life, including their future careers.
Drawing inspiration from my background in Neuroscience, I always aim to integrate neuroscience-backed methods into my teaching practices. These methodologies not only optimise information retention but also contribute to the ongoing development of cognitive skills, fostering a continuous process of intellectual growth.
Aside from academics, I am an avid reader, keen Badminton player and love to travel! I love to share experiences with students, as it creates a bond with them, and gives them space to be able to feel relaxed, and wanting to contribute themselves during lessons too. This to me, is pivotal in any learning process.
I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and aspire to be more than just a tutor; I aim to be a catalyst for academic achievement and the cultivation of skills that extend far beyond the confines of the classroom. "Stuart manages to bring variety in his approach to classes. Some weeks he positions tables propped upright on their ends and we work in various media on paper the full size of the model. Sometimes we draw a model who moves in various ways in rotation. Our still life evenings are also different, he brings in a pigs head for us to draw, and also a brace of pheasants. Stuart is always very encouraging. He covers all the basics in teaching us how to measure the body by eye, by aligning different parts of the body, and demonstrates different media techniques. "

I like to be as flexible as I possibly can be when it comes to my lesson style. I would love students to be able to come to the lesson with fresh questions every week and that to be the focus of the session. I would always prepare a topic just incase the student didn’t have any questions for the session.
The typical length of a session would be an hour, however, I have the ability to be flexible and if desired I could do shorter 30 minute sessions or longer 2 hour ones.
I am currently studying for a masters in Civil Engineering and have a good understanding of maths at both GCSE and A-Level standard- achieving an A* at GCSE and an A in A-Level. Grades aside, I have previous experience tutoring as I volunteered to tutor GCSE students when I was studying for my A-Levels and am currently tutoring 4 students at different levels.
