Impressed by televised demonstration by Christian Tissier, Christophe took the plunge and started training in Aikido in 2002. He has trained mainly with Jim Dempster (Gowaryu Aikido), where he found his direct and efficient approach to Aikido very appealing.
In 2007, Christophe was awarded Shodan (1st Dan) by the British Aikido Association. He got his Coach Level 1 qualification in 2009, allowing him to help teach at Gowaryu and Katsujinken Dojos. In June 2009, he founded the Genryukan Aikido dojo in Dover. He was then awarded Nidan (2nd Dan) in July 2012 by Shaun Hoddy and Greg Barton.
Christophe mainly follows the Tomiki system and syllabus. However, he is also keen to look at other styles of aikido and martial arts. With that in mind, Genryukan has been very lucky to welcome a number of highly skilled guest instructors such as Mick Pratt (4th Dan, Tomiki Aikido), Neil Saunders (6th Dan, Yoshinkan Aikido), Robert Mustard (Shihan, Yoshinkan Aikido) and Howard Popkin (Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu). Also, an introduction in kungfu and taichi, whilst too short to claim any proficiency, gave Christophe some insights into the differences and similarities of other fighting systems.
Christophe is keen to pass on the lessons he has learned over the years and is constantly working on how best improve his coaching. His main goal is to better motivate, encourage and help his student into their own journey in their martial art training.
Genryukan Aikido has had an excellent start with dedicated students. Christophe is looking forward to passing on his love of the art for many more years whilst developing his own Aikido.

All lessons are planned and delivered by a seasoned MFL Teacher who has worked in several schools (primary and secondary) in Buckinghamshire and Kent. The offer brings a wide range of private lessons (Year 7 to Year 13) in French and Spanish.
I am a native speaker of French (born and raised there) and an almost native speaker of Spanish (Mother and extended family). My teaching focuses on grammar and language manipulation and one of my strength is building very good relationship with his students very quickly.
Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

I recently retired as the Head of biology and love looking at ways to motivate learners and understand how we learn. I try to be an encourager when I teach and love working with people to help them achieve their goals. I don’t just teach my subject as the purple biologist but work with people in a mentoring capacity to help them learn. I have written a revision book on Amazon called Power revision.
I have a degree in biology and a master's in educational management. It was during my master's degree that I did a lot of work on motivation. I have developed a study skills program to help improve learning and motivation. I always love learning, and during the covid lockdown, I worked hard to discover new things about online learning. I would now consider myself an experienced online teacher and by using many of the online resources available I feel I deliver a sound online learning experience. With exam classes, I will focus on what now needs to be done to ensure a good grade is achieved. My site thepurplebiologist has areas to help with your studies and has testimonies from students I have helped.
This is an email I received from a previous student.
I wanted to offer my genuine and most sincere thanks for the top-notch education I have received from you over the last three years. I have learned so much, and that is all down to you! You put so much effort into teaching, and are so engaging, and have always pushed me, and developed me so much as a biologist, and I cannot thank you enough! From escape rooms to quadrats on the field by the chapel, my education has been so engaging, and an absolute pleasure! Thank you.

I can tutor in piano, vocals and drums. I can also help with general music knowledge and music theory.
I have a basic dbs and first aid training.
I like my lessons to be student led, so they get exactly what they want our of each session, though there will be a basic structure to each lesson.

I have been working as a French teacher since 2016 in England. I am currently working in a grammar school and teach KS3, 4 and 5 (IB). Before that, I used to teach English to non-natives in Belgium. I am a native French-speaker myself.
