After graduating from Newcastle University with a First-Class Degree in Journalism and Culture, I began a career in education through Teach First. I have since worked in a variety of different schools where I have shared my passion for learning with the many pupils that I have taught.
I am a fully qualified teacher with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and extensive experience in primary settings including as Head of Maths. I have a meticulous knowledge of the primary curriculum, having taught for extended periods of my career in Year 6 as well as in lower KS2 and KS1. Most recently, I have worked as a specialist Year 6 SATs tutor educating small groups and individuals to help them to achieve accelerated progress towards their academic goals and aspirations. During this role, I have worked with a range of children including those with SEN.
I believe that there is no one set approach to improving academic standards and that instead this should be tailored towards the needs of the pupil on an individual basis. For example, this could involve providing challenging and thought-provoking material or rebuilding a pupil's understanding and confidence from the ground up. At the heart of my philosophy, I believe that tutors should build meaningful relationships with their pupils and encourage a love of learning.

Are you looking for a tutor for your child's up and coming SATs? Or are you just looking for a confidence boost for your child? I am a very experienced tutor, with great results, for either of the above. I'm a qualified teacher and I am very enthusiastic, friendly and confident in what I do. I am willing to do whatever it takes to support your child. I have supported children from reception, right the way through to year 11. In recent years I have supported several children in achieving a pass in their end of KS2 tests. I always come prepared with a wealth of work to suit your child, including challenges, working alongside the new national curriculum. Throughout my sessions, I believe every child should be able to ask me any question in confidence, that they may not have the confidence to ask their teacher in front of their class mates. I always try my best to support in any way that I can. I am confident that I will be able to support your child in getting the best results possible. I am available to work hours to suit you and your child. I believe that a student should be comfortable whilst learning. This said, I am able to travel to you, or you could travel to me if you'd prefer. I offer great hourly rates and block booking discounts. If you have any queries or questions about anything at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
