Hi, I'm Mike, a North London-based Music Technology & Music Production tutor! I have over 7 years experience of teaching Music Technology & Production subjects in Secondary and Further Education, as well as weekend-based extra-curricular 'workshop' programmes. I''ve also spent the last 10 years working as a producer, remixer and DJ in the Dance music industry.
Needless to say, music is a huge passion of mine and I love to share it with other like-minded individuals, regardless of age or ability level. I always strive to contextualize and tailor my teaching to any specific interests of the individual-you! Music is a hugely personal pursuit and I want you to feel like you're developing in the areas, skills and/or musical styles that interest you. I like to keep my lessons active, fast-moving and real world-based, as I believe this inspires a more productive end result. Music Technology is an inclusive and accessible subject so I'll always 'scaffold' my lessons to ensure that any potential learning barriers are removed for you, and to ensure that you get the most from a lesson!
I have a breadth of experience in teaching Music Technology subjects at AS/ A-Level in-line with the Pearson Edexcel curriculums, as well as BTEC & Rock School Levels 1, 2, and 3. I've also taught GCSE Music in-line with the Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabus', so I'm happy to help you with any production or DJ technology-based areas of your GCSE studies.

Hey, My name is Jack, I have played guitar for over 5 years and have studied at all levels in music from GCSE-University. I have performed at various venues such as the Globe theatre in Cardiff, I look forward to teaching anyone guitar lessons.
Music has been a huge part of my life since beginning to learn the piano when I was 13 years old. I quickly taught myself to play the piano and my mom would often ask me to learn songs from the radio by ears. Soon I have developed an ear for music, showing family and classmates my unique talent for music production and song writing. When I was 16 years old, I started a rock band with my brother and a friend. During this time, I learnt to play several other instruments (guitar, bass and drums). Soon my reputation grew, and I became known throughout the area for my quick fingers on the piano and powerful stage presence. After 3 years of touring the clubs and the most popular music festivals in Slovakia, the band broke up and I went into full time employment. After 2 years, the allure of making music and performing was too much and I applied for the Slovak/Czech version of the X-Factor. I truly enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot, making it through to the final 10 males in the Under 25s category. This exposure gave me the opportunity to have a brief stint as a touring musician, playing abroad in venues and hotels throughout Europe. However, due to being homesick and not enjoying travelling, I returned to Slovakia and got a job as an AV technician with the Slovakian National Theatre. It was at this time when I also built my own home studio and began producing and mixing music for up-and-coming local rappers, bands and artists. As my reputation grew for beat making, mixing, mastering and producing. Very soon I realised that I needed a premises and opened my own studio in Bratislava. As a young entrepreneur I quickly started to attract popular Slovak and Czech artists such as H16, Aless, Plexo, Otis, FobiaKid, Ego and collaborated with some of the best producers in Eastern Europe. Soon my productions were being played on national radio and television. Being called one of the Best Young Producers of 2017 by a reputable online magazine. After being offered a distribution deal from an international record label, I decided it was time to take my career to a new level. I felt the UK music scene was where I needed to be and sold my studio at the end of 2017. I moved to the West Midlands and began applying for work in recording studios and theatres. Soon, I found the Beatsabar Music Project and I have been working out of there until now – Recording sessions, mixing & mastering, music production, song writing, music production workshops and tuition. My musical production skills have developed from roots in musical composition and live performance experience. I have added to my journey via the studio route, having spent time as a recording engineer, in my home studio and later in my own premises. As a producer, I move between two roles, depending on the needs of the artist and music. Sometimes I involve myself in every detail of the musical arrangement of the artists’ songs, becoming an extra member of the band. Whereas at other times I take more of a back seat, subtlety guiding the artist through the maze of multitudinous options available when making contemporary records.
In my professional work I have been envolved in anything from creating the rock music for an internationally released film, to mixing pop and dance for commercial release, not only this, but I have taught for many years, both in 1-1 environments and in larger class settings.
As mentioned before, I have a wide range of experiences teaching. I aim to implement my professional work within my teaching, for example, showing students the mix for a song I worked on, I explain how I completed the mix, what techniques were used and how they can achieve a similar sound, I then will give them the stems for the project and ask them to work on the track themselves! My goal is to make the student feel as welcome as possible, with the greatest improvement possible in a short time span.

I offer lessons in: - Folk/Pop/Rock Violin - Logic/Ableton Music Production - Songwriting, Composition, and Film Scoring I also offer support with: - Music Theory and Music Reading - GCSE, A Level and BTEC music/music technology exam VIOLIN LESSONS: My violin lessons are for anyone, no matter how young or old, who wants to learn to play the violin within the context of folk, pop, or rock. We will look at classical violin technique to ensure safety whilst playing, as well as how to read music and music theory. We will look at folk, pop, or rock repertoire, and at the techniques that can be used to make these genres come alive on the violin. MUSIC PRODUCTION LESSONS: At its simplest, music production is the careful creative process of capturing and showcasing the raw recordings of a track, arranging them in the sonic sphere in such a way that a listener can truly connect with the artist's intention. More complexly, it can build an intriguing world of sound around the core songwriting/compositional elements. I teach my students how to use music production software and how to put sounds together, leading through to creating fully recorded, produced, mixed and mastered music projects. COMPOSITION/SONGWRITING/FILM SCORING LESSONS: Have you ever wanted to write your own pieces of music? Are you looking for feedback on your work? My lessons are for anyone who wants to study the art of songwriting, composition, or film scoring. Sessions will be presented in a supportive way through constructive discussion, practical tasks, worksheets, and writing sessions.
