I'm a Cardiff University graduate and a passionate, patient teacher. I have 9 years of teaching experience and training from exam boards across England and Wales.
Are you a GCSE student? For some of you, it’s exam season and you’re probably under a lot of pressure: from school, from family, maybe even from yourself. I’m here to help guide you through the material in a way that works for you. Whether you’re overwhelmed and we need to break it down into more manageable chunks, or you’re looking to challenge yourself for those extra marks with some intense revision and original ideas, I always tailor my sessions to work for my students’ unique needs. Perhaps you're a parent or guardian looking to support or challenge your child? Over the years, my students’ ages have ranged from as young as 5 in group settings, up to 19 for 1-1 sessions. Engagement is important and I know how to keep students actively learning. I always focus on building confidence, fostering curiosity and encouraging creative, independent thinking, as I believe these are the real foundations of academic and personal success. For KS3 students (11-14), it’s important to broaden their knowledge base by using longer texts from various historical periods, comparing and contrasting literary contexts and choices, and introducing analytical thinking and writing. This ensures students are exploring literature and their own writing through a rich, varied approach in line with national curriculum guidelines, leaving them well prepared to develop themselves further in the following years. If you have any questions or think I might be a good fit for you or your child, I’m happy to message or offer free web chats, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. I'd love to hear from you!

Experienced teacher for A level Chemistry in Cardiff. PhD in Chemistry and previous teacher of a Sixth form college in London. Certificate in teacher training .
I apply varieties of aspects in my lessons to develop learners’ skills based on their ability and progress. My teaching method follow review of previous topic and link with the current topic and often with real life examples. I emphasise on the non-linguistic representations such as graphs, models or images as visualisation helps in long-term memory compared to the text-heavy materials. I encourage the learners to use varieties of resources to seek information beyond the textbook. Moreover, I address the subject specific mathematics and English needs of learners. I conduct regular progress test and often with self assessment to motivate the students for self-actualisation. As a science teacher, I emphasise on the ‘Generating and Testing Hypotheses’. My Learners are often asked to carry out web search and write an essay on contemporary science topics which helps to grow confidence in academic writing for higher education.

I have been in the field of education for some years. I was trained for teaching at the Primary Education level, specialising in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the University of Salamanca (Salamanca, Spain). Apart from spending 4 months in two Spanish schools developing my internship.
My focus lies on ensuring that children balance learning with fun in the classroom and building confidence in their own ability, maintaining a positive atmosphere, using creativity and following a communicative and meaningful approach.
As a teacher, I encourage and develop creativity in all children, ensuring each activity allows them to develop their confidence to be independent and active learners, utilising their knowledge and skills in order to achieve their best and learn about the world around them. My aim is to make my teaching as fun and interactive as possible, enabling their school experience to be meaningful, enjoyable and motivating. I celebrate both the successes of the children and the mistakes that form a vital part of a child’s learning as they explore their own talents and abilities. I have been developing a creative, engaging and enabling learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Learning to play MUSIC not the drums is the most basic cornerstone of any teachers curriculum. All rhythms, grooves and exercises MUST be linked to music to have any value to the student. The different styles of music which we encounter in our musical journey present the same technical/philosophical challenges whether we are paying jazz, rock and afro cuban. What we practice and how we practice are far more important than the length of time spent in practicing. Think “quality not quantity” Remember also that the way in which we practice is the way we will play. Time spent investigating song form and structure will aid the student to “play the right thing at the right time!!!”
The ability to LISTEN is all important. By listening and responding to musical form and the other musicians the student will play as a musician not a drummer. Certainly this is what other musicians look for. Musicality will always win over technique. Strive for tone and touch in your playing. “Just because you can play something doesn’t mean that you should."
The ability to LISTEN when you practice is also vital. If possible record your practice and listen back. This can be very painful initially but is invaluable. Investigate WHAT you are playing and WHY you are plying it not what you think you are playing. The answers to these questions should be that it fits/enhances/is stylistically correct not that it is the latest /lick you have perfected.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THINK MUSIC AND YOU WILL PLAY THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!!!!!!

In more recent years I e been working with voice students and those embarking on a professional career as a singer. I like to work with groups as the students learn so much from each other and we can have open discussions about what we need as performers in the music world. Communication is at the heart of my work as it's an essential part of being a performer in any musical style or discipline.
I also help singers prepare for auditions, role preparation for upcoming productions, physical awareness in performance and how to connect the voice and body with the breath.

I have been coaching and mentoring for over 10 years and teaching for 6. I have a strong ability to motivate students academically and personally. At present, I am working with the AQA specification for GCSE and A-level - as such will be sticking to this within tutoring (I will not tutor OCR, WJEC or EDEXCEL - sorry). My specialism in tutoring approach is working with large amounts of information (making it stick with memory strategies) as well as developing stronger essay and argument skills. The core theories of the subject are revisited regularly and with emphasis. At minimum, I will tutor over a term - this will give enough time to build confidence in a skill, topic area or revision strategies.

The lessons are based on the Common European Framework of reference for languages (A1 to C2) to provide a guideline for your learning.
For students with previous knowledge, lessons are built around your existing knowledge in order to take you to the next level. Whatever the level you start from, I will give you homework and lessons to learn and practice in between lessons to embed the contents from the previous one and to be ready for the next one.

In my opinion, you are never too old, too rusty or too slow to learn!
Languages can be taught in a fun and efficient way being based on real-life situations with a particular focus on communication skills. The aim is to improve your knowledge of the French language to be able to take part in conversation in French and to feel at ease with it whatever your level.
In order to achieve those goals, I use a well-structured scheme of work following a step-by-step way of learning the French language. Thanks to my studies and experience, I am able to explain the grammar and the nuances of the language in a way which is easily understandalbe whilst never giving up on quality. I give a particular attention to accuracy and details and I always push my students to go an extra mile in their learning journey.

If you really want to learn but can't afford those fees, please email to discuss it. My priority is to give access to knowledge and learing to every purse.
EXPERIENCE
For the last 4 years, I have taught French toa wide range of students with a great variety of backgrounds. Having helped and trained many students I am convinced that my passion will benefit your learning.
Some were British, American, Spanish or Panamean children for example; others were bilingual children willing to keep up with the mother tongue of the country they are not living in or French children and teenagers following French curriculum whilst abroad with their family.
I have prepared native speakers teenagers to successfully pass their French Baccalaureate, British teenagers to get A-Grades to their GCSE and A levels, and bilingual teenagers to get their GCSE and/ or A-levels as independent candidates.
I have taught adults from several nationalities and backgrounds such as students, lecturer from university, journalists, PhD students, nurses, artists, lawyers, therapists, film editors, engineers or business owners to learn French for personal or professional purposes, either as complete beginners or by adapting to their current level to take them to the next one.
Whatever my students' background or expectations, I always totally dedicated to my students' needs and I am proud to teach them in a way that their progress goes beyond their own expectations.
I strongly believe in the importance of being taught by a native speaker who also is a qualified teacher when it comes to learning a foreign language. I have high expectations and I use my skills and enthusiasm to become a confident learner of French!
Last but not least, I am proud to provide a safe and reassuring environment for all my students, that's why I am enhanced CRB checked.
