Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. We were luck to have had colleagues we share the same vision with join us. Now we can teach all subjects from Primary through to GCSE, College /A-levels and Science & Maths at University level. All our teachers / tutors are graduates and qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) who understand the National Curriculum. Some of them are examiners at GCSE and A-level, which means they know the exam techniques students need to answer the exam questions properly and get better grades. Within the team, we have professionals with very high qualifications ie Masters Degrees (MSc / MA) and PhDs in various subjects. We can, therefore, be confident to say we are professionals who are dedicated to what we do with proven records in the UK’s most entrance and national exams. We are a tutoring organisation that is defined by its professionalism. Our aim is to provide a personal service. This makes us very different from most tutoring companies that just offer a platform for tutors and students to meet. We speak to clients so that we can match them with the most appropriate tutor for their needs. When this happens, the results can be remarkable & confidence grows. We personally know all our tutors and all have had DBS checks and their qualifications checked before we take them on. We are also a member of The Tutors’ Association (TTA) which was formed in 2013 to provide standards to the tutoring industry.
My Psychology degree and 9 years of experience working with children with Neuro-divergence and additional educational needs prior to teaching have significantly shaped my approach to teaching.
I prioritise relationship building and trust with students and their caregivers.
I am patient, kind, and incredibly encouraging but have high expectations. I work with students for them to also gain high expectations in themselves. This may happen in the first few sessions or may take a longer period of time depending on the student.
I help students gain high expectations for themselves by initially giving tasks where they are guaranteed success, then celebrating and reflecting on this success and how they were able to use the skills taught and their effort to complete the task. This builds a persons confidence and significantly increases the likelihood of attempting more difficult tasks. This is heavily proven by research (and seen in my classroom daily) known as the “theory of self efficacy” and the “theory of planned behaviour”.
If a person does not believe a task is within their capability, they are incredibly unlikely to even attempt it (No matter how much we believe they can do it).
It is my job to SHOW students they can do it by designing tasks and lessons in a way that they feel challenged finish with pride in their achievements.
When teaching new skills I will show them first, then we will complete a task together, then they will apply the skills independently. I will be constantly assessing as they work independently and provide support where necessary. The ultimate goal is to phase back my support until they are using the taught skills correctly, consistently, confidently and independently.
Lessons will vary depending on students needs. If caregivers want to spend a percentage of the lesson to discuss, that will be agreed upon. If there are specific targets you want me to cover then we can dedicate time for you to tell me these expectations. If you would prefer me to assess your student and gage where the gaps are and plan accordingly, that is also ok.

Is your child in secondary school but needs support in the foundation subjects such as reading, writing or maths?
Reading and writing is an essential skills in secondary school for every subject. I can support your child to close the gap so they can access all subjects with their peers. Having worked in secondary schools before, I have seen how much students are required to read and write in all lessons, but there will not be opportunities to learn these fundamental skills at school.

For over twenty years I was an English/French teacher to students between the ages of 3 to 19.
I also have over thirty years of experience in teaching English, French, Romanian, Mathematics and Physics in private. The objectives varied from reaching higher level of achievement (facilitating the admission to elite schools, higher educational programs or award of scholarships) to getting better school results, feeling more confident, developping academic and social skills.
For five years I had a successful afterschool program with children of ages between 3 and 12. I supported them to do their homework, taught drama, English, French and German, we did a lot of crafts and art activities, cooking, writing and creative playing.

I'm fluent in Spanish, ( my native language) French, and English and have spent many years teaching and studying languages. I completed a bachelor's degree in Spanish and English at Manchester/ALmeria University (2008) and studied Spanish and English Literature in school (GCSE and A-Level) so I know how daunting grammar can sometimes feel and how stressful language/literature exams can be... but also how great it feels when you finally start getting it!

I have taught these exams for many years so I know how they work and how you can do well in them. We will work closely with the syllabus and go through some secrets of exam technique to make sure you get a top grade.

I also teach courses to adults from beginners to advanced and I always tailored to each student's need. I also teach English to foreigners to achieve the Cambridge Examinations ( A1 to C1).
I effectively deliver and plan online outstanding lessons and the feedback that I have received from parents, pupils, and adult learners have always been very stimulating. I strongly believe in the student centered-approach as always shown in my lesson plans. I believe that all students are individuals with very specific needs so differentiation has always been at the forefront of my teaching practice. I love online teaching as well as face to face. I have been doing online experience for the last 5 years and I have helped most of my students to achieve an excellent language level. On the other hand, I am a 200hr yoga certified instructor for the last 2 years and I can give you online 1-1 lessons from beginners to more advanced practitioners. I can also give the online yoga class via zoom to you and your whole family! If you have children, you will be glad to know that I have trained to teach kids yoga and I have been organizing yoga workshops in primary and secondary schools.
My primary specializaton is helping children gain entrance to their preferred secondary school by tutoring and supporting them to pass the entrance exams. I also tutor mathematics and English for ages 7-13, which is in high demand at the moment due to gaps in knowledge caused by the Covid pandemic.

I have taught music for the Open University and currently teach music for Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, where my specialty is the history of opera. I am also a senior member of the examinations team for music at the International Baccalaureate Organisation, with particular responsibility for the extended essay in music ( a subject I have written a guide on). My role with IBO involves setting the standard for the extended essay, in consultation with my colleagues, and then leading a team of examiners with the aim of ensuring that the standard is adhered to. I am a trustee of the Society for Music Analysis, the UK's leading learned society for the promotion of the study of music analysis. I have contributed papers to international conferences and founded Theory of Music Ltd a not-for-profit company which provides free and low-cost resources for the study of the history and theory of music. I have taught corporate clients for the past 10 years and for the previous 4 years was an IELTS instructor for Aston American University. I taught students online worldwide and helped many students achieve the result they needed in the test. Lessons were usually conducted on zoom or Skype. I also wrote a PTE Academic Test of English course for Aston American. I have published degree level distance learning courses and occasional reviews, e.g. in the Times Higher Education Supplement. I have worked in the education setting for the past 9 years; working with children of differing ages and abilities. In 2013, I qualified as a Primary School teacher and took up my first teaching post in a school in Devon. I taught a mixed class of Year 4,5 and 6 children over many years and got through many Year 6 SATs testing too. During this time, I was part of an Ofsted inspection where I was graded ‘outstanding’ in my teaching practice.
I then went on to teach at another Devon primary school where I taught a variety of year groups. Having trained as a Maths specialist for teaching at Exeter University, I became the Mathematics Lead for the Exe Valley Federation. During this time, I went on to learn more about the best methods to teach Mathematics along with taking part in a Mathematics Mastery research programme. I supported teachers and ran training in how to improve Maths teaching across the schools.
Whilst studying for my degree at the Plymouth University, I spent time researching in both Special Needs and main stream Schools to learn about child development. In 2011, I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at a Special Needs School where I worked alongside the Mathematics teacher to support the children’s learning in a way that would work best for each child in the school.
Tutoring has become a natural progression for me after teaching for many years. I genuinely believe that with the right support ALL children can succeed. Watching children make small steps of progress has been the key to my love of teaching. As a tutor, I can gently assess your child and give them the extra support to help them gain the confidence they need in school. Many parents have mentioned how their child’s confidence has improved since tuition, not only in the subject they were tutored in, but as an individual overall. I have four years of teaching experience from my various placements throughout the years. I possess a calm demeanor and approachable personality, which makes it easier for children to come and speak to me. Moreover, I am skilled at maintaining boundaries and managing behavior within the classroom. I am a highly organized individual with excellent time management skills. Through my work placements, I have been able to improve my ability to manage my workload and time effectively.
Currently, I am on placement in a year 5 classroom where I am working on a research project focused on enhancing multiplication skills in the school. I am also working on a case study with a child who struggles with dyscalculia. During this time, I am taking a closer look at the Maths and SEND curriculum to explore how I can adapt certain areas to better support my project and case study. I find this work very fulfilling as it allows me to contribute to school improvement and work directly with children.
When I was 16, I attended the Southern Regional College for two years and completed my Level Three Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Studies. As part of my course, I had to do placement every Tuesday and Wednesday, and I worked as a teaching assistant in my old primary school. This experience made me realize that I wanted to become a class teacher and pursue this career further.
In Northern Ireland, I have tutored three children between the ages of 8 and 16. I have worked with children who struggle with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning difficulties. I enjoy tutoring and getting the chance to support children individually.
Outside of school, I enjoy going to the gym and running. I also do Irish dancing, which I have been doing since the age of 6. It is something that I really enjoy and it has taught me the value of teamwork andriends. Additionally, it has taught me great resilience and the importance of persevering even when things get tough.
