Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. I have had several years experience teaching Classics in the UK and am now completing my MA in Classics alongside my full time work as a Classics teacher in south London. As a key member I have been developing our provision so we now offer A Level Classical Greek for the first time in several years! One of the areas I particularly enjoy working in is successfully supporting young students as they prepare for entrance exams with previous experience in particular for St Pauls Boys and Winchester College. If required, I can also provide lessons, tutoring, or general support in English and History, if needed.
My A Level classes of 2022 all scored highly in their exams - 100% A*s in Latin and 100% A-C in Classical Civiliation.

My Psychology degree and 9 years of experience working with children with Neuro-divergence and additional educational needs prior to teaching have significantly shaped my approach to teaching.
I prioritise relationship building and trust with students and their caregivers.
I am patient, kind, and incredibly encouraging but have high expectations. I work with students for them to also gain high expectations in themselves. This may happen in the first few sessions or may take a longer period of time depending on the student.
I help students gain high expectations for themselves by initially giving tasks where they are guaranteed success, then celebrating and reflecting on this success and how they were able to use the skills taught and their effort to complete the task. This builds a persons confidence and significantly increases the likelihood of attempting more difficult tasks. This is heavily proven by research (and seen in my classroom daily) known as the “theory of self efficacy” and the “theory of planned behaviour”.
If a person does not believe a task is within their capability, they are incredibly unlikely to even attempt it (No matter how much we believe they can do it).
It is my job to SHOW students they can do it by designing tasks and lessons in a way that they feel challenged finish with pride in their achievements.
When teaching new skills I will show them first, then we will complete a task together, then they will apply the skills independently. I will be constantly assessing as they work independently and provide support where necessary. The ultimate goal is to phase back my support until they are using the taught skills correctly, consistently, confidently and independently.
Lessons will vary depending on students needs. If caregivers want to spend a percentage of the lesson to discuss, that will be agreed upon. If there are specific targets you want me to cover then we can dedicate time for you to tell me these expectations. If you would prefer me to assess your student and gage where the gaps are and plan accordingly, that is also ok.

I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.
– I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing short points of rest or temporary closure, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
Musical Performance
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.

I recently completed a PhD in British and American history at UCL. I have experience tutoring students for A-Level exams in U. S. History.
