I have ten years of teaching experience, with a background in Grammar school education. I have worked as Head of Science and currently work in curriculum development.
I can teach Biology from KS1 to KS5 and chemistry and physics upto and including KS4.
I am fairly traditional in my approach. My previous pupils - I am recently retired - would describe me as thorough, encouraging and able to develop a strong self belief to succeed in a tricky subject.
Teaching Chemistry for 41 years has given me significant insight into the common conceptual pitfalls that hinder learning. So, first and foremost, I aim to develop a sound conceptual understanding and thereby foster tutees' confidence. Grasping Chemistry is like tackling a jig-saw puzzle: The pattern emerges when the links between the individual parts are apparent; I pride myself in enabling tutees to make these connections. Once the subject foundations are secure we move on to questions, examination technique and past papers.
I use a personalised approach to learning, making sessions as engaging and enjoyable as possible by trying to explain the complex ideas using everyday examples. I am happy to help with preparation for GCSE, iGCSE, O Level, A levels, International A levels, Pre-U or AICE diploma examinations. Hello! I'm a Microbiologist, Biostatistician, and an experienced tutor, specializing in Cancer Biology, Melanoma, Microbiology, English, Science, Statistics, and Mathematics. I am passionate about tutoring students of all grades and levels. I believe that every student has great potentials locked-up within them, waiting to be unlocked by a dedicated, loving, caring and astute teacher. I am 45 years old with 21 years experience of Science and Maths teaching aged 8-16 and an experienced tutor of Maths and English am able to offer individual private tuition in Maths, English (including reading), Science and 11+ entrance exams.

I am currently available some evenings depending on work and family life and weekends on a Saturday - this availability changes as people book in for lessons on a first come first served basis.
I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills.
