I have over 15 years experience in Teaching, and over 11 years experience in Private Tutoring. I currently offer both face-to-face in person tutoring for 1:1 or small groups. I cater for each child's specific needs through appropriate differentiation, and according to their individual interests. I strive to make the learning fun and engaging, and adapt the lesson as we go to ensure the most enjoyment and motivation. My lessons are usually 1 hour long, depending on the needs and abilities of the child and I cover the ages from KS1 up to GCSE in both English and Maths. I also offer home schooling sessions to individuals who are unable to access the mainstream education system, whether it be from a SEND need, a preference or from anxiety, for example. These sessions cover the Core subjects as well as teaching Life Skills such as cooking, woodwork and sewing etc. In addition to this, I offer discrete tutoring for adults in Maths and English (Reading).

'My dyslexic daughter has been working with Sarah for the last 4 years. Sarah has changed her life. My daughter hated school and couldn't wait to leave. She was frustrated that her teachers didn't understand how to get the best out of her. She was really demotivated and it was affecting her mental health. Sarah immediately worked out she was bright and knew how to make her tick. Together they have laughed and cried until my daughter started to enjoy learning and look forward to seeing Sarah each week. Her grades started to improve and she sailed through GCSEs. Sarah has supported her, advocated for her at meetings at her school and become one of her chief cheerleaders. Sarah continues to support her through year 12 and my daughter has started to excel with her chosen subjects. 4 years on my daughter is considering which University to apply to and there is no talk of giving up school. If you have a dyslexic child who is struggling I would 100% recommend Sarah www.*** She is magic.'
Founded in 2015 SC Tuition is the premier tutoring agency in West Sussex. From our base we work with you either online or face to face to provide an inspirational, supportive and friendly academic service tailored specifically to your family's aspirations and needs. "Our daughter was predicted to fail her English Language GCSE at Foundation Level and was told to not to bother with English Literature. With Sarah’s support our daughter managed to not only pass both but to also go on to pass English Literature at higher level for The International Baccalaureate. Sarah is patient, supportive and a brilliant teacher. We feel very lucky to have found her. She had a wonderful rapport with our daughter and indeed the whole family." (Mrs A. Horsham)

Hello, I'm a highly experienced and motivated UK primary school teacher with a strong background as a senior leader. Over the course of my career, I've had the privilege of working across several primary schools, including Nursery (Early Years Foundation Stage), and even served as a Headteacher in an Alternative Provision in London. My journey has been marked by a consistent commitment to securing whole school improvement, cultivating effective teams, and guiding successful change management processes.
One of my key strengths lies in my ability to build and lead successful teams, delegating effectively while implementing and managing changes that enhance educational outcomes. My passion for education is reflected in my proven track record of driving school improvement, as acknowledged in a recent Ofsted Inspection (July 2022). The Ofsted report praised my role as Head Teacher, acknowledging the positive impact of the improvement action plan and the implementation of clearer expectations for staff and pupils. I take pride in designing and facilitating professional development programs, ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all learners.
With 17 years of experience as a Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), and Deputy Head across five schools, I've honed my skills in various areas. My proficiency in safeguarding, combined with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensures a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.
Throughout my career, I've been keen on taking up new challenges and exploring innovative teaching strategies to engage and inspire my students. I'm driven by a desire to see each learner flourish and achieve their full potential. My commitment to individualized learning experiences and self-directed learning has resulted in improved academic performance, elevated self-esteem, and enhanced work and study habits among my students.
In my recent role as Deputy Headteacher at West Thornton Primary School, I successfully developed and improved teaching strategies for the school, while implementing new management processes. My focus on staff appraisals and performance management contributed to the school's successful adherence to COVID-19 regulations. As a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), I ensured the safety and wellbeing of all students, while also supporting successful applications for Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) funding.
As a lifelong learner, I've pursued various qualifications and attended numerous training sessions to stay updated with the latest educational practices. I hold a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from Harris Academy and a BA (QTS) hons degree in English/Education from Roehampton University.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am a keen baker and cook, finding joy in experimenting with new recipes. Additionally, I stay informed about the education sector through subscriptions to "The School Bus" and "Heads up," national education magazines.
I am excited to join TutorExtra, where I can continue to share my passion for teaching, leadership, and school improvement. My dedication to empowering students and fostering a love for learning remains unwavering, and I look forward to supporting learners of all backgrounds to achieve their educational goals.
Thank you for considering me as a part of the TutorExtra community. References are available upon request.

Since my both of my daughters were diagnosed with dyslexia, I became aware of the challenges they faced every day in the classroom. This in its self spurred me on to become the year 6 teacher I am today. One who will never give up trying to find new and exciting ways to help children learn. Mainly, my forte it's SATs prep, which I've been doing for 7 years helping children not only pass their exams, but instilling confidence within to flourish for the rest of their educational careers. I also have a specialism in supporting the progress of children who have particular needs. Such experience I feel enables me to teach in a very diverse way, resulting in a bespoke tutoring approach that will inevitably enrich your child's educational career.
